It really depends on what you want to buy and many international shopping sites do have issues and you may find the product you are buying is uncertified in the UK and may not be as safe. You may also sacrifice any warranty that product may have had. I tend to use international shopping sites for lower cost items or simpler items. I use Aliexpress, TEMU and recently did an order to Shein. Shopping from ebay or Amazon may actually be an international retailer based in China so you have the same waiting issues.

In the past I used to order stuff from Europe or the USA but nowadays I'm not seeing the value there as typically there is a cheaper Chinese supplier of the same products or I just don't buy those type of products anymore. Where possible you should support your own economy. In the past I've seen items like a battery bicycle light which was £1 in Poundland and about £1.50 from Aliexpress and the Aliexpress version was not as good it didn't have corrosion resistant battery contacts so the Aliexpress version was inferior so you were paying more for less effectively. Some shops like Poundland, Home Bargains and a few others can be cheaper for Chinese goods as they buy in bulk and don't have to be individually sent which adds to costs.
