You can make invitation cards or make the kids do it. it is fun...
Decoration can be made at home, from paper, origami is very cool, you can make birds and hang them from the sealing.
Party bag fillers> Pound store sells cheap sweets, pens, pencils ...etc
Sometimes some people do not want the toys from the kinder eggs, you can get them free....depends how old the children are

If you go to SmythsToys and click on Toys, Clearance Stock, there are loads of bargains. Just remember to Sort By 'Price Low to High'. For example there are Paw Patrol Sticker packs from 50p and loads of 2017 Annuals for just £1 each. It looks like most clearance items are Click & Collect and not available for home delivery.

You can get lots of free crafting ideas or games for pre - school children on CBeebies website for free.
I used to make quick jigsaw birthday competitions. Just a picture laminated and cut into weird shapes for each kid. They have an egg timer set and the first to get their jigsaw completed gets a pack of sweeties.
Table decorations are easy to make -pinterest board is a great place to get free ideas.
I love making things and fun kids party games are brilliant fun.
Tub of Vaseline, bag of cotton balls and a bowl. Everybody has a blob of Vaseline on nose and has to pick up cotton balls and chuck in bowl. Most in bowl wins.
I think sweets are always pretty cheap and always well received prizes.
Instead of birthday invites, I used to print labels and wrap them around cheap chocolate bars with the day/time of birthday. Worked out about 40p each.
Chocolate flapjacks are cheap to make and easy party food that won't kill the carpets. Hope something here is useful!
