Should Bosses Be Able to Work from Home?
Ask a Question
Should bosses be able work from home?
A survey of top executives shows that very few go to the office five days a week, despite over a quarter expecting their employees to. What do you think?
TheChimp I love working from home (in the cupboard under my stairs ). We used to have a London office pre-Covid, then switched to remote working. I think most people in the team prefer remote working and we've now hired people from all over the country. Personally I feel it promotes a healthier work-life balance. Simply removing commuting time makes a huge difference. I was previously commuting an hour each way before. However, I know some colleagues miss the social aspect of working together in an office and that is a challenge to overcome from remote working. Depends on the person and I think if you like it, great, and if you don't then there are plenty of jobs that are not remote working.
TheChimp Thank you for your feedback although please do keep it polite when addressing my colleagues. Yes, as you would expect in any shop, restaurant, or business, employees may have different guidelines than for customers or members in our case. The job of my colleagues is to support members, rather than be members.
To this end, Latest Deals has very large community groups on Facebook and there are many discussions that take place there. SamGoodship kindly shares these topic discussions from our Facebook Group onto our Latest Deals Chat. This is so that Latest Deals members here in Chat, who may not have access to or participate on Facebook, may also enjoy discussing the same topics. This has been the case for quite a while, although perhaps we can improve the communication on that front.
The goal is to share topics of interest from and for other LD members, to encourage discussion and to support members having fun.
As our super Latest Deal Facebook Group moderator, I believe SamGoodship may respond to these topics more directly on Facebook and you can get involved there if you wish.
I apologise you may feel it frustrating LD team members may not respond to every thread they post, whilst at the same time we encourage members to. In the former action, our intention is to support LD member discussions. And in the latter, the reason is to avoid points abuse and again, to support LD member discussions.
We will review this feedback and see if we can better improve our communications behind the motive of the discussions. Thanks.
Tom and TheChimp but the problem is that they are repeats, over and over and it doesn't help members it just puts their chats to the bottom of the pile. It's a bit like a competition sponsor entering a comp themselves, conflict of interest? If people want to chat on both forums they would join fb. Btw members aren't ENCOURAGED to respond, they were told recently their thread would be taken down if they don't.
Isn’t that just management all round? They’re rarely seen until they have to present themselves - should change, as management should be seen ‘mucking in’, but will that ever change?
If they are top executives as stated then no, they will have plenty of managers below them to deal with the day to day running of the business. As long as they attend relevant meetings and are kept up to date by their management teams , there is little need for them to go in each day.
I think if you're expecting your workforce to come in you should too! It wouldn't inspire me to work hard for someone who had one rule for themselves but another for other employees. I personally enjoy a hybrid approach, so I can work from home should I need to but also can go in and see my colleagues - gives a good work/life balance!
Only if they allow the minions to. Ridiculous to expect and make the monkeys at the bottom be in the office when the fat cats think it's beneath them
If they are bosses and pay wages they can work as little or often as they like i would think.
I think if you're the boss, you should be able to choose whether you work from home or the office.
