Does anyone know where I can get Karvol capsules under £30?

Ask a Question

I had originally asked (what are they called?) but I have since found out but now I can't seem to find where to buy them apart from eBay and they are £30 for a pack of 10. So now I'm asking does any one know where I can get them any cheaper?

(Original question)

When I was a kid & had a cold my gran used to get little brown capsules shaped like mini ten pin skills that she'd cut the top off & put on a handkerchief then inside my pillow case. It smelt a little like Olbas oil.

Can anyone remember these & what they were called?

Was it these?

I think they are called Carvol or karvol capsules.

I remember my Mum once breaking one on a handkerchief for me.

blacklabrador Yes it was these I have just sent the hubby to Holland and Barrett for some as the Olbis oil is too strong & gives me a soar head. I was surprised the are only £4.99.

Wow just noticed that the ones from Holland and Barrett are Klearvol but the only place I can see Karvol for sale is eBay £30 for 10 capsules 😲

fifehoney Karvol decongestant capsules have been discontinued in the UK. That is why you are having difficulty sourcing them.

fifehoney Blimey, so £3 a capsule. Would be interesting to see if they smelt the same as they used to.

fifehoney If you find Olbas Oil strong have you tried Snuffle babe either vapour rub or oil, available from Tesco or Sainsbury.

Have you considered Vicks? In fact Boots do their own vapour rub and I’ve put it on a tissue.

Pjran I'v not tried Vick's I never gave it a thought. I'm not ill much the last time I had a cold was 7 years ago, but this year I'v had covid a few months ago & now a really bad cold & I'm a really bad patient lol. I still cry for my grandad when I'm sick and he passed away 8years ago so the reason I was looking for Karvol was just a comfort thing 😂. The hubby's away into town to get everything that everyone suggested, bless him 🤗. Thank you for your suggestion 👍

fifehoney I’m a teary person even when I’m not ill. I will watch some of the procession tomorrow and I know I’ll need a hanky. Take care, hope you feel better soon.

almost forgot to mention menthol sweets, they really help with that blocked up feeling.

My mum got the same for me and they were brilliant. If I smelt one now it would bring back my childhood. Think they're called klearvol now don't know if they smell the same. Happy hunting.
