Cat Repellents?

Ask a Question

Okay so there are ALOT of cats where I live and before me the garden was left as a bit of a free for all for all of them, anyway I’ve had serious issues with the cats digging up and pooping everywhere! I’m talking 6 at least poos a day. now I’m not a massive cat fan but I don’t want to hurt them, how do I deter them from my garden? I have a 2 year old so just hate the thought of her playing and falling in some that I’ve missed. Heeeeeelp 😩😩

Chicken wire in your border areas is a good one. Plants survive, the wires below the surface so when cats dig they catch their claws. Puts them.off from that area

This problem drove me demented last year. The person over the end of my garden has 11 cats. In the end I had to spend out and cover every single earth area with stone/pebbles/shingle which has helped a bit but they still use my tiny lawn as their toilet. My garden is too small to grow too much so I have now given up and just have shrubs along fences and terracotta pots with herbs. I have loads of fairy ornaments and tbh it has meant less hard work. I am now considering saving for an artificial lawn in the hope that will deter the pesky cats. There were some good tips on a previous thread about this way back if you can find it.

My neighbour used to swear by laying water bottles on the grass. I'm not sure that works though. Someone else told me dog poo deters them 😂 They also love loose soil so compact the soil or put flower pots or ornaments over it. You can also get fake cat ornaments with glowing eyes that scare cats away.

it's a territory thing, so if you try to mark your territory with your own stuff (whatever you choose), it should work. I know that human hair works for foxes, but never heard if they worked for cats

My own cats have always had the decency to defecate in my neighbours' gardens. But when a neighbour's cat had the temerity to poo in my own flowerbeds (repeatedly, killing campanula I bought, then killing the replacement campanula I bought), the neighbour bought me a bottle of this stuff. Worked a treat. https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/get-off-crystals-460g?istCompanyId=bf3344d9-83f5-4abd-b69a-da131f7567d1&istItemId=ptliqixrl&istBid=tztm&source=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2L7jBRCBARIsAPeAsaOsvCjGNbeyUL2KD7MGT22gVTDwjpi_2fLw6f8mUcVULVbXXOBT0uUaAlkXEALw_wcB
