Christmas Dinner for One
Help
any one have any ideas how to cook a nice meat main without too much waste?
I cook for one all the time, when I can be bothered if that makes sense. Why not roast a small chicken/Turkey and just do small amounts of veg, roasties, yorkshire, stuffing etc. Have what's left next day with mash and pickles.
I casserole chicken breasts use a portion with mash or roast spuds and veg from freezer. Then I freeze the rest in individual portions in small Pyrex dishes with lids. I also use those dishes for individual lasagne and shepherds pie. Eat one on day of cooking and then freeze the rest. I do same with curry. I buy the big bags of spuds and after roasting a few i may have a jacket the next day but will cook the rest and put some aside to fry with an omelette, mash the rest to freeze so I have some prepared if I want sausage and mash. I could go on but sure you get the idea and I hope this is what you meant.
Hi mrsbenzene I brought a turkey breast with stuffing and bacon all ready done. I got it from asdas for £9.99 and it is all meat no bones . Cooks in the oven for 2hours. I to live on my own. And this will do me a couple of days. I will make turkey ham and leek pie. And turkey soup. The rest I will freeze. And have a another turkey dinner later. Hope this has helped you out. And I all so got a Christmas pudding for only one person for £1.50 again at asdas. If you would like the name of the turkey I can give it to you.
Thank you guys so much. I’m cooking food my Dad ( who’s nil by mouth, but wants to chew) and boyfriend who wants turkey and leftover. Your ideas are brilliant and I’ll definitely use. I’m vegan, so meat storage ( frezing and whatnot) is alien to me. Thanks again. Hope you have a great Yuletide xxxx
