Continuing to Watch a Film That Disgusts and Upsets You
Other
Last night i began a film not knowing the content. I quickly realised it was about child sex trafficking and the story of one brave man's attempt to reunite a father with his two kidnapped children.
I felt compelled to watch, mainly to educate myself as i knew little about it, even though i was often in tears and hand clenched anger. The lengths the main character went to, with his wife's blessing, was astounding and i was amazed to see in the end credits film of the real guy as i had no idea it was a true story.
I can't remember the exact figures (well over a million kids) but what did sear into my brain was that there are more slaves today than at any time in history, even when it was considered legal. (Rather blows the reparation lobby out the water) The worst crime rates for this awful sickness of mankind is in the USA.
If anyone is interested the film is called Sound of Freedom and stars Jim Caviezel.
There's only one film that I watched 20 mins off and then turned it off and never tried to watch it since that was ted Bundy
Leannexxx omg, it would be a brother that sent you that card it's the sort of thing my brother would do,lol
Last weekend I watched a film on Netflix called Nowhere. It drained my emotions but my husband lost interest in the first 10 minutes and recalling the story even made me cry.
I've always had a morbid fascination with serial killers, just like my late mum she had the same , as for movies Hannibal is one of my favourites
martinlufc5637 I know that is based on true life but serial killers, whilst disgusting sickos, don't have the same ability to create a worldwide trafficking trade which affects the lives of millions of kids, and older people, and their families and is still rife.
This had me in tears because they were taking children of 5 upwards and doing dreadful things to them. How do those people live with themselves, I would literally put a gun to their heads and pull the trigger, no human rights whatsoever.
I contemplated watching it. I don't think I could cope with it tho so I will bypass it. There was alot of push to cancel it iv read.
As for films that have stuck with me, 2 come to mind both are grim more so because they are based on real life events. Hotel Rwanda & Tears of the sun.
Glitterandgold I continued with it because the emotion of the hero (he had 6 kids of his own) touched my heart and I knew he was going to do a miracle. Obviously being one man he couldn't solve the problem but he did more than his fair share and he risked his own life.
Ty for sharing, I really would like to see this film "Sound of freedom" , is it still in the cinema x
nina090976 no, I watched it on plex. If you google where can I watch sound of freedom I am sure you can find it somewhere as Jim Caviezel is quite a well known star.
It is weird about slavery, yes it was a higher percentage of the population in the past that were slaves but because there are so many billions of us nowadays there are actually still many more slaves out there. It is really common in Africa and parts of Asia. I think it can be quite open in poorer areas of Africa but is hidden in our society.
BonzoBanana this film concentrated on Colombia in South America. My view is that slavery in the past and now has affected every single race and colour, no single group should be singled out as having suffered more than another.
Thanks for the Info about the film. I actually watched It last night with your recommendation and It was a good moving film. It was sad but true. I was going to turn It off because I thought It was going to be all In Spanish. This kind of thing does still exist especially In the America`s. Like the special agent said through the film: God`s children are not for sale. What gets me Is why did the Father go after they go In the hotel room. Yes It was a photo shoot and he was not allowed In but he could of waited outside or on the landing. Why leave the hotel. Lesson learned I guess. Trust no one.
