How Much Does It Cost to Wash Your Car?
Ask a Question
How often do you pay to have your car washed and how much? Or do you prefer to do it yourself at home?
My husband always washes his at home because our daughter likes to help (and comes in soaked of course)
I've never used a car wash, I prefer to do it myself with kids, they enjoy it and it's free lol
I never use a car wash , i always do it myself
But i dont use water with a cleaner , i have used a waterless spray for many years, i just spray it all over the car , windows as well, then wipe it off with another cloth
My car is quite old but looks like new , gleaming black
I was getting fuel a few months ago and the attendant was admiring the gleam and asked me what i used and i said a waterless spray, he said he had never heard about it
I mainly use greased lightening , it is the best i have tried and good value compared to others
telmel Never heard of this product - does the first microfibre cloth not just get filthy before the car is clean? Bought a bottle to try it out - this is about the cost of a single car wash and it reckons it does 8
davewalsh126 No water washes have been available for years D
I dont even use a microfibre cloth, usually an old cotton teashirt or the like
I use it a few times before i wash it, turning it inside out etc , i just use another clean cloth to buff it up
It takes all the gunk off the bodywork and windows when you wipe it off , and it has special molecular properties so it wont scratch the paintwork even with sand and grit on the car
And the biggest plus for me is no water stains left after cleaning which you tend to get in a hard water area
You end up with a shine akin to using a car wax without the effort, and it leaves an ongoing film of protection on the paintwork, also you can see the water running off the windscreen when it rains
I would never go back to a wet wash after using this
Sorry if i sound like i am advertising it, but it works well for me
telmel I'm looking forward to this product arriving! My car is currently filthy
chele44 It depends on how often you use it C and how, i think the longest a litre bottle of greased lighting lasted me was 6 months
You can adjust the nozzle to get a very fine spray, thats the setting i have it on, and then just spray the whole car
If you use a heavier setting then you will apply too thick a coating that is just waste
When you have not used it a while all the solution sinks to the bottom, so i always give it a good shake before
SamGoodship No, my car is really old though and not in the best condition any more so I’m not as concerned really. If I had a newer one I might do but can’t afford right now.
Our house has 3 cars and none of us use a car wash. We always hand wash our cars. A few years ago we used a car wash and it wasn't very good for our diesel car.
I used to spend hours cleaning inside and outside but now I pay around £3 pound for a quick wash and hoover every couple of months as I'm a tidy person
I do sometimes use a car wash but only for a cheap one. It’s one of those automated ones and costs about £4 which i think is fairly reasonable
I never take my car to a car wash as it's something that my partner actually enjoys doing, especially on a nice day and usually find there's always a few neighbours out doing theirs too.
It's about £8 where I am. Don't do it often. I have park in a public car park where I live so it's a mission to do it by hand
Jerseydrew You should try the waterless spray J
Its ideal if you don't have a water supply close to where you park
Just keep the spray and cloths in the car and you can clean it wherever you are, even on a driving holiday
