I have no pets now but ive had both in the past. Cats are great if you work or have a busy life as they dont need walking and generally dont need as much attention. Dogs are better companions in my opinion though

Both, but more towards dogs in the past 4 years that I’ve had mine.. they need so much more from you, show appreciation and love and aren’t plotting world domination 🤷🏻‍♀️

I prefer a dog, but not too impressed with having to clean up behind them so don't have one any more for that reason.

I think cats suit my character more, I love to have them around and they don't bother me too much. As much as I love dogs I think they could be a bit more hassle and don't suit my personal circumstances. I've always loved the idea of having a golden retriever but not suitable for my small house. I used to walk my brother's dogs in the past and the walking bit was nice though and loved being out with them.

I love them both, we've got a collie and a Huskamute and a couple of months back introduced 2 kitten to the house. We were really wary of how our Huskamute would be but she took to them immediately, our Collie is scared of them 🤦‍♀️

I find this subject so interesting - looking to the future I predict it won't be the last time I will be enthralled by the inventiveness of people trying (very unsuccessfully) to be original.

davidstockport You are wicked! 😂 It's a year on and I still agree that points shouldn't be given for a topic until the poster has come back - more than ONCE - and there has been a few comments showing interest.

It might help, when we see a topic that has been constantly repeated, if we just bumped up a previous one, I've said this on anther I've bumped up, it might get the repeats removed along with the points some are so eager to gather - it might possibly stop them doing it.. RegularComper90 Ann1984

davidstockport the problem is that the topic can be repeated repeated after a month........🙄

angemski The 30 day limit is no where near enough. Should make it more like 3 months at least.

RegularComper90 Sorry, didn't get your tag. I would be happier for 6 months - the repeats are pushing the interesting ones further down and I'm sure that many people, including me, don't check any further than the first two pages.

angemski Ann1984 RegularComper90 LynibisThe Chat Guidelines DO NOT say chat topics can be repeated after a month. (That, i thought, is for DEALS)

They actually say that repeat topics (duplicates) will be removed. (or merged with the original)

Here is the actual wording:

"Make sure it's not a duplicate: Please keep new topics original. Your post will be removed if the topic has been posted before. Have a search before you create something and check that there isn’t already a topic discussing what you want to talk about. If we find a similar existing topic then we’ll remove the duplicate or merge the two." FROM https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat-guidelines

From that it appears the onus is on the poster to check to see if a Chat Topic already exists - not just in previous month (That's easy enough) It's a pity the rule isn't enforced it might help some of us who think we're suffering severe deja-vuitis whenever we visit chat. It could also save Latest Deals quite a bit of money rewarding certain posters who totally ignore the "supposed" guidelines,

I am aware that those trying to report "duplicates" will be informed that they're permitted after one month if "Duplicate Topic" is selected. Perhaps better to report selecting"other".

Perhaps Tom or Kelsey can clarify.

davidstockport well I must admit I am not best pleased at all our comments being removed from the most recent one as it gives a wrong message that it is perfectly ok to keep repeating topics. I wouldn't mind so much if it were one or two from way back but there are a whole page of cat and dog topics on search!

It also means that you are repeating your answer over and over and earning points for doing so. My rebellious streak is emerging and from now on I will be posting repeat topics and also repeating my answers to other's repeat topics!!!

Lynibis You're "not best pleased" I am ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED that is one reason I have not been posting recently, the moderators can't have read chat guidelines or not understood them - I noticed today you had replied to a comment I posted but couldn't see what you said (the topic had been removed). It seems absolutely ridiculous to remove an earlier topic because it's been repeated at a later date. I notice the poster of the topic you refer to has repeated numerous other topics.

davidstockport another couple of recent additions asking where they can buy a particular item. As this is a deal site I would think a search in the deal section would be first point of call. To make matters worse, no replies to those who have made suggestions, although there is still time.

Hello davidstockport I wondered where you'd been, now we know - buried in repeats! How are you keeping? It's a good idea you have to bump up original question. In answer to this one, always had cats when younger and at home then dogs when married now nothing.

I could talk about dogs and cats all day long. Love them both and would probably set up a rescue home for them if I had the money to!

definitely both. i love aspects of both. cats are misunderstood but can be just as loving as dogs. and they love you in different ways. my cat and dog also love each other and i love watching them play!
