Is This the Most Expensive Portion of Fish and Chips in the UK ?

In the News

We all know food has increased in price just lately both in supermarkets and restaurants

But i think some restaurants are taking the Michael out of us

This one in Scotland charged someone £49.50 for two small portions of fish , chips and mushy peas

The fish must have been battered in gold and the chips from a casino

hspexy Yes H, that is more expensive, but the menu is quite exotic , much expected at Harrods, the meals in Scotland were just plain old fish chips and mushy peas

MelissaLee1 I'm the same if I don't see prices beforehand I won't use them and of course if the prices are not competitive then I go somewhere else.

There's a chippy where I am that I won't go too, because of the cost. Foods nice but not that nice. Not eaten in it in about 8 years.

Always used to be that Fish & Chips was the cheapest takeaway, around here it's now the most expensive.

We had some a couple of weeks ago, it came to about £39 for three of us.

To be honest it's not that surprising fish & chips from the local chippy have got pricey, so are fish and chip restaurants. If it's a fancy hotel restaurant your paying for experience. Did they not see the price before ordering?

I live near to Bicester Village retail outlet and they are having a new fish and chip shop opening there, rumoured to be nearly £20.00 per person.

TheChimp I was £9 lastnight but that was the meal deal. Tub of gravy and a can of coke. £8.25 is the price for haddock and chips

heatherduthie For some reason, they don't do haddock around here. I'd have to travel 10 miles to get some and they normally sell out.

I fancy a bit of hake 😋

TheChimp I was cutting hake yesterday. They are a nightmare to cut they are so soft but they taste ok if you fry a loin in the pan with some butter then pop in the oven for a bit
