Family Receive an £18,000 Gas Bill for Just 2 Months because of a Faulty Meter

In the News

I know bills have increased dramatically lately, but this one takes the biscuit

The family were devastated to receive a bill from their gas company for £18,000 for just two months consumption

It was down to a faulty smart meter, that wasn't so smart in this case

I cannot imagine the stress the elderly couple must have gone through because of this , especially with speaking limited English

Well, "smart" devices aren't necessarily in our favor rather in theirs (it's trackable, monitored, controlled, etc) so this happening isn't a surprise.

The more these devices are accepted the worse it'll be.

Just read this from BoE:

www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/06/21/bank-england-tells-ministers-intervene-digital-currency-programming/

"The Bank of England has called on ministers to decide whether a central bank digital currency should be “programmable”, ultimately giving the issuer control over how it is spent by the recipient."

Issuer = Bank, Company

Recipient = Client, Person

That's the future of "smart" money (it may launch later this year or 2024).

Hope they got that bill sorted, just because you slap smart on something doesn't mean there won't be mistakes I think these smart gadgets are actually half the problem sometimes
