Confrérie Mondiale des Chevaliers de l'Omelette Géante de Bessières aka
The brotherhood of the knights of the giant omelette are gathering in Bessieres in France to make their yearly piece de resistance. The gastronomic brotherhood will use 15,000 eggs, 2 pounds of salt, 1 pound of pepper, lots of herbs, and 12 gallons of duck fat.
Tradition states that one morning after Napoleon Bonaparte's troops spent the night in Bessières, he so much enjoyed an omelette recipe prepared by a local chef that he insisted that a giant version be made up for his army to enjoy as well.
I don't mind an omelette but probably only have one once or twice a year and reckon I've gone whole years without one. It's a very occasional meal for me. Sounds pretty gross with duck fat though.
BonzoBanana My mum makes a mean cheese omlette but I'm not much cop.No duck fat for me either nor goose fat in roast spuds either.Plain and simple all the way.
