Heatwave

Anyone else hating this damn heatwave weather?
Havenβt been able to sleep well
Staying hydrated drinking lots of water
But get headaches and get dizzy too!
Yep big chested lady here so it's especially not pleasant AND recently been diagnosed with asthma, I finally got it under control but struggling with the humidity and heat. It should NOT be near 30c during the night.
I get a lot of leg cramps too, so dehydration does NOT help that either.
I much prefer colder weather, at least you can warm yourself up or snuggle up in a baggy jumper or fluffy gown.
I also feel for the animals too, some owners continue to walk them in the blazing heat, animals like rabbits are often left without shade or water or even left in scorching sheds or hutches
Take care of yourself xx
DeBunny Thank you you take care too!
Itβs not nice right?! Yeah I totally agree with you prefer when itβs autumn or winter can at least wear layers to keep warm and wear baggy clothes
Oh no sorry about your asthma and leg cramps
Yeah people need to take better care of not only themselves but their pets too!
I like it but can get too hot in middle of day. I think stay out of the harsh sun at its strongest. Keep in shade, wear white if possible, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen all helps. Stay in shade or indoors. Ice lollies/ice-cream, if not on diet and water. I have blackout curtains and a fan. If I canβt sleep I get face flannel and dampen it over face and wrists. Open windows a little for air flow. Also ice cubes are good wrapped in flannel then fan your face really cools.
JLouM Some great tips, thanks for sharing.
Some nice low calorie frozen lollies if people don't want to make them themselves, then Claudi & Fin Mini Yoghurt Lollies are quite nice (in my opinion) and are only around 30 calories each.
It's not all about calories, I know but I thought some people might like to know.
JLouM I I have curtains drawn out during the day but they are thin lol
Hottest in my room
Itβs the sane everywhere!
Itβs cooler now at nights do leave a gap between curtains for fresh air to slow inside!
Yeah do use spf but on face lol and so wear light coloured clothes too
Ice cubes highly likely will melt even wrapped in flannel lol
Yeah do eat ice cream and lots of fruits too
Iβm loving this glorious weather just hope itβs not followed by flooding like Spain and Greece at the moment.
Pjran i absolutely love this weather. Every day people are moaning how hot it is but is August they were asking where our summer was. Well here it is. Enjoy while it lasts.
Pjran hope not. My place of work was flooded in January and we still aren't back to normal. Don't need that stress again. It was awful to see. I was one of about 5 that made it in
Jerseydrew thatβs awful but think about all those peoples homes in Somerset back in May when they had flooding and landslides.
Pjran don't need to as I witnessed what it did to homes and as I work in education I had families that spent months living in Hotels
I think people are hating on the heat itself, not the sun. It doesn't need to be hot for it to be sunny.
RegularComper90 Yeah hot humidity when it it seems ever more hotter as the humidity and temperatures rises
kitty88uk I like a dry heat, but not a fan of humid heat. This heatwave started off OK but is becoming more humid now.
RegularComper90 I agree itβs like itβs getting hard to breathe especially at night the humidity is so bad that I cannot sleep and when I do and morning comes Iβm all sweaty
I absolutely love this weather as it helps with my psoriasis. I really need sun all year round so once our summer is over I go travelling abroad to get more sun.
eyeballkerry haha that seems a bit over the top to go abroad for more sun οΈ but if you can afford it then thatβs fine
kitty88uk As it really benefits my health I donβt see it as over the top. We have two cruises book at the moment, hoping to get to Malta next week for my daughters birthday but flights are so expensive at the moment and then in the future hoping to move abroad
eyeballkerry I see that sounds lovely enjoy both the trip and celebration
Oh dear everything is getting more expensive!
eyeballkerry ...I feel your pain,I had Psoriasis in 2019 after having a Virus just before going to Portugal for the first time. I then came out in Psoriasis in Portugal, couldn't get a Dr Appointment at my Surgery so had to go to a hub,the night I came home, tried a few Chemist's to get my prescription, couldn't get the Cream til following day!
It was the first outbreak of Psoriasis in seventeen years since giving birth to my daughter, who should have been born yesterday 25 years ago but came 9 days late!
When I get Psoriasis I an covered head to toe & it is soooo uncomfortable..
My Niece turned 23 in August, my daughter & I visited her,she was upstairs at her parents home, didn't want to go out as she was covered in Psoriasis,so sat in her bedroom playing music with her bf.It was the first time she had got it,her Dad is my younger brother,he & I have suffered for years with Psoriasis.
I told my Niece it will stop itching & fade, sent her a photo of my back covered in this curse with the words..
SKINS CAN ONLY GET BETTER!!
Our older sister was diagnosed with Rhuamatiod Arthritis on July 22nd 2009 & the first thing the Consultant asked her was if she had any siblings who have Psoriasis because it's connected, she told him yes my sister & brother, her late son had it his sister has it too if I'm correct, our cousin has the Arthritis that comes with her Psoriasis, had it since she was a child..
Good luck, I hope you find comfort in the sun.. x
I donβt mind the heat but it does take getting used to. Canβt go about things at the usual pace and as you said make sure to keep hydrated
I enjoy the heat if I can stay at home where i'm able to freely slob about, lots of drinks and cool down when I need to. Don't like the heat at night though, even with my fan on.
Don't mind the heat but got to be careful with my skin as been treated with melanoma in the past. Usually stay inside or in the shade, wearing factor 50. Keep covered as much as possible and staying hydrated.
SarahfromLeeds Hi another member from Leeds! Nice to meet you! Oh I see Iβm glad you are all better now!
Yeah I use spf 50 and pull out the curtains too and drinking a lot of water eating ice cream to help me cool down!
Just two more days of this heatwave and it will get colder ish
Nadiaparveen How have you been doing so? Any tips? Lol I drink lots of water and cooled down herbal tea eating ice cream using a paper fan lol
Really hope it ends soon!
kitty88uk you're doing well with those measures you can draw curtains together when the sun is at the highest points 11-3pm. You can use one of those ice packs used for sprains, on your head.
Nadiaparveen Thanks yeah have been doing that with curtains when the suns out and shines so much through my room
Only past two days been using forehead strips to cool down! Was saving them when get headache
They helped so much felt cooler
It's been awful. My place of work is unbearable. Its boiling even with open windows. Come winter it'll be freezing
Jerseydrew Oh no take care of yourself and stay hydrated!
Exactly hot summer gets so humid!!
And when itβs winter it gets very cold your bones ache!
I hate being hot. I woke up with a splitting headache and it made me throw up. Weβve bought a small paddling pool and spent the afternoon in that so itβs helped.
snoogans888 Oh no! That sounds bad! Get well soon! Drink more water and eat more fruits
I hate being hot too and those bad headaches they can last for two weeks for me!
Yeah I've had that all day today I've had to drink my friend had to buy me lunch drinks today I just had to come upstairs better 8:00 stop got in the bath with cold water and then I'm just going to go sleep see how I feel in the morning
CallumFlowers Crazy weather! Even having a shower get out and Iβm all damn sweaty again!!
Humidity is driving me mad
Clothes are damp from sweat lol sigh
