Is Homemade Cupcakes a Good Enough Christmas Present?

I am considering making, people a box of cupcakes, instead of presents this year.
I usually go all out, but I financially can't this year. But I am worried that everyone will be disappointed. So I just wanted to know your guys opinion please.
My answer is yes...l would love to receive a handmade with love gift rather than a shop brought gift 
I would love to receive homemade cupcakes ( or any cakes really 
) . If someone has taken the time to make something for me that they think i will love then it means so much more.
It is if you know the people will appreciate it. Personally I have reservations about homemade edibles because of hygiene issues or dietary/allergies etc. But maybe I’m just really fussy. As long as you know who you are making them for well and you are good with those issues go for it.
If you know that the people receiving them will appreciate it then yes. If you can afford to make them Christmas themed and put them in Christmas themed boxes.
That sounds like a really nice gesture and something a little bit different to buying a gift, also there's a lot more time and attention put into a homemade present.I would love to receive something like this 
Yes!!! I make my neighbours cupcakes every year and they love them. And I pop a ribbon on the box. It’s the thought that counts. It’s a lovely idea x
It sounds nice. I would talk to the people first explaining what your planning to do. It does always depend on your ability to cook somewhat

I used to make
cakes, cupcakes for a living. But to be honest I lost all heart after losing my brother ( He loved them, and I would always have to do extra for him. ). That was 7 years ago, and I now feel maybe I will get back onto it.
I was thinking I will let them all know, as hopefully it will take pressure off them too

Yes it it. People are skint so would understand and appreciate it. You don't need to go silly at Xmas. We as a society need to change out mindset and not expect expensive gifts

If I can't afford it I don't buy it, I am not extravagant in any sense & neither are my partner or our daughter..
Every year I am inundated with requests for mince pies. They are not really presents as the friends who want them would not usually receive a present, though family get a present and mince pies! I make frangipane, crumble, Viennese and ordinary. I can't see why cupcakes would be any different if they are decorated in a christmassy way.
I probably won't do mince pies this year as it is getting ridiculous having to make 10/12 dozen so watch out you may start something that escalates. Just be aware cupcakes won't last as long as mince pies.

janphoenix51 they are rather yummy and my daughters in law insist on them each year. (Personally I think it's time they made their own lol!)
That’s a lovely idea, go down that route if money is a bit tight, it will mean a lot more than just picking up a gift in a shop. I personally have stopped giving Christmas presents and we just have a family meal now, so much less stressful.
eyeballkerry the times my sons have agreed with this and then walked in with a new tv or other extravagant gift. We don't trust each other to stick to it so we all ended up buying them!
Lynibis My family did not think I was serious to start with but have come round to the idea. We all like our holidays so we can all treat ourselves without spending on stuff no one wants.
Lynibis We used to buy my mum presents every year and every year we had to return them. She wanted a hairdryer, that was too big, other stuff I can’t remember now. Once she wanted kitchen tongs so we got her thongs!
It’s a great present I all ways make a Christmas cake for one of my friends it makes the present more thoughtful I think
Definitely, I'd be more than happy having homemade cakes, rather than something I wouldn't use, and have to give it away for someone's birthday!
Absolutely. I actually love the thought and effort that goes into hand made gifts. It means more to me than shop bought gifts
I would appreciate any present that is home made , cup cakes being a bonus. I think it you’re personal time, making them , especially if you know which flavour/ designed to the person not everyone’s the same design / flavour.

I did that one year because I didn't have money to buy this person a gift and their response was 'did you just get these out of the freezer?'. I thought they would appreciate home made decorated cup cakes, but no.
