Hot Food in the Cinema?

Should you be allowed to take hot food into the Cinema?
Most cinemas are okay with you taking in your own snacks and drinks but ask you not to take any hot food in. Despite this, there was a whole group of teens tucking into a kfc when I was last there.
Nadiaparveen I think they say no more because of the smell being trapped in the room?
No I don’t think hot food should be taken in. It stinks- it’s the same on buses. Eat at normal times or before film and be considerate. Only non smelly food or snacks should be allowed so I agree with them.
NO I don't think hot food should be allowed, I was on the bus last week and a couple were eating hot spicey food and it made me heave.
Cinemas make most of their money from food sales, as a high percentage of the revenue from ticket sales goes back to the film distributors, studios, etc. Consequently, I doubt they would start openly encouraging customers to bring in outside food. Although, some cinemas already sell hot-dogs, pizzas, burgers, etc. There isn't a really a difference between that and most other types of hot fast food.
No - the smell of it is likely to be irritating. But many cinemas also sell hot food so what can you do...
We used to be able to take pizza from pizza hut and there were deals between them where I live. The pizza hut shut down so clearly no longer happens. I've no issue
No, i do not think it is okay to take hot food into a cinema. The smell is probably going to be the worse thing and most likely the wrappers would be left on the floor.
eyeballkerry I'd probably ask for a refund than smelling someone's food for an hour or two. I didn't agree to that.
PhilipMarc I know I would not be happy. It’s bad enough in a cinema with people rustling wrappers and going to the toilet every five minutes. I don’t go to cinema very afford for these reasons. People can’t just sit down quietly and watch the film.
Hot food normally change the environment because something it don't smells good. Better not to bring in my view
Well hmmm I should say this but it was in the middle of winter about 10 at night and we took a family bucket in from KFC no one said anything
As long as it’s not noisy or strong smelling then I don’t see an issue. Most cinemas sell hot food now anyway
No, bring back the usherette who circulated round the cinema with the ice cream and popcorn.Can still remember the light she had so that we could see where she was.Ah, nostalgia for old times.......
I dont see the need to buy meals at a cinema, the same when people buy cooked food on a short haul flight, snacks are different though , it's tradition
Surely people can survive just over two hours , that being the length of most movies and short european flights are without having to have a banquet on a cinema seat or on a plane
Besides being uncomfortable , most cinemas dont even have a tray to put food on , or at least they didn't the last time i went quite a few years ago , imagine how grubby the material on the seats must get with fat stains
Maybe flying is slightly different, you may be on a really early one and had no time for breakfast ,and delays can be an issue, but you plan a cinema trip so surely would eat before at home or maybe go somewhere after the movie to eat ?
Saying that the cinemas encourage eating in by providing hot food , but you pay a premium price for it
No. Even popcorn is a bit annoying as you're trying to enjoy the movie and trying to listen, and someone's going at popcorn.
If you want to eat hot food, then just go home and watch it when it's available.
It would be a no from me. I don't like the sound, smell, noise food makes in the cinema and it's some of the reasons why I don't go anymore and wait for a version I can comfortably watch at home
