Jesus Christ Superstar, Have You Seen It?
Other
Saw it last week and hated it so it was very difficult to write an unbiased review. Tonight it is An Officer and a Gentleman and in August The Adams Family so I hope they are better.
To be fair JC was the only one I have really not liked. Would be interested to know if you have seen AlysonC and what you thought of it?
What is your favourite and least favourite show folks?
I saw it many years ago L , with phillip schofield in the lead, i think it was around 1993
It was ok , i don't normally go to musical theatre productions in this case it wasn't my decision
I loved Chicago and the Jazz band at the end was really good . They were playing when you walked out of the Theatre and everyone was more or less dancing out.
I first saw it back in the early 1980s and I wasn't impressed so I needed persuading to go along to see the current tour. I actually loved it this time round, especially the actors who played Jesus and Judas.
Incidentally, my theatre/drama mad granddaughter is playing the Granny in Adams Family school production next week. Thankfully, her school put a huge emphasis on the arts and have a small and larger theatre with all mod cons. The students and the drama teachers put in many hours, especially in the lead up to every show, going to school about 8am and finishing about 6pm, but they love it.
Their last main production was School of Rock, and it was as good if not better than some professional shows we've seen.
AlysonC Saw An Officer and a Gentleman last night and it was very good. My next theatre outing is, coincidentally, an amateur production of The Addams Family which I am really looking forward to. Some who have seen it previously say it is just as good as a professional show. I would say Break a Leg to your granddaughter but it always seems a bad thing to say!
Lynibis I had my dates wrong, and saw her in Addams Family yesterday evening. It was really quite funny and she did a great job as Granny. Today she is in a different smaller role as there's so many of them, they swap over the lead roles, but still a busy day with a matinee and evening performance. The main show is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a professional show we saw last year, which will be held in the school's large theatre later in the year.
Cats,Evita,Les Mis and Singing in the Rain all great. Also enjoyed Seven Brides for seven brothers but then I love musicals.I like some of the songs from Superstar but not the full production.Oh I saw the Jolson musical many years ago with Brian Conley singing..that was great.
MelissaLee1 I have seen Les Mis on stage and Singing in the Rain and 7 Brides for 7 brothers on film. I used to love all those old musical on TV when younger, Oklahoma, Carousel etc.
Lynibis Yep.I'm mad for musicals.I watched As clouds roll by on Roku the other day..the Jerome Kern story.I loved it.I won't divulge how many times I have seen West Side Story(both versions are good). Not seen the stage version yet though.
Never seen Jesus Christ superstar but I did used to listen and dance to the album many many years ago and enjoyed most of the music.
I saw this years ago with Philip Schofield, it wasn't my normal thing my wife made me go but I enjoyed it
martinlufc5637 ha ha several people have said this but I am pretty sure you mean Joseph and his amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which I loved. But for some reason hated JC Superstar.
