Knife Crime on Our Streets

News

If you were the Commissioner of Police or the London Mayor, Home Secretary etc, how would you go about tackling knife crime? What measures would you put in place?

To answer my own question these are some things I would do.

1. Put more police on the beat, out of their cars, s*d the cost.

2. Ask survivors of knife crime to go to schools and speak of their experience.

3. Make parents more responsible for their under 16s being out on the street in the evening/night.

4. Make stop and search acceptable to all races, gender for all young people just hanging around in the street with no purpose or reason for being so, especially at night.

5. Prosecute severely anyone caught selling knives, machetes or the like either in shops or online.

6. First time caught carrying a knife throw in a sin bin for 1 week and forced to attend films and lectures on the resultant consequences of using knives on other human beings. And frighten the life out of them with the long term sentence they will receive if caught a second time.

Should this be talked about considering people get offended reading the word "Brexit" here? Probably not.

The chat section is fine with daily life discussions, lifestyle, traveling, entertainment and etc.

Rockman haven't seen or read anyone being offended by brexit on here but as brexit is definitely political it probably shouldn't be discussed as it is against the guidelines of LD on politics and religion.

Lots of chats taken literally could have a political aspect but in my humble opinion a good meaty topic that brings forth ideas and discussion is preferable to green v. blue etc. Too many posts are point fishing and some people post a topic and never even bother to go back to it when others take the time to reply.

All they talk about is cyber crime, but most of the things happening on the streets. They cut down the actual police force and have them behind computers, but some of these crime guys do not even know how to use a computer.

In the middle of the Saturday a guy was running around in one of the high streets in London and screaming, that he will kill someone and police took him down, but these things should not happen at all.

they need to get tougher on criminals - the soft approach is not good enough, and that is why crime is on the rise

Yes definitely. Just yesterday i read of a 17 yr old who used his parents powerful car when 3 times over the limit with cannabis and mowed down and killed 2 men who were on the way home from a restaurant. He walked out of court scot free.
