Left or Right Handed? is the Former Still in the Minority?

I am left handed, so is my brother but all 3 sisters are right handed. My daughter in law and grandson were surprised, after all these years, to find I was a leftie, especially as everything is positioned in my house for me to use.
So, are you left or right, what about your friends and family? Are lefties that rare, I'm not sure they are.
Not in my home, in fact being right handed was wrong lol. Myself and my 4 kids are all left handed but growing up with 6 siblings only my brother and I were actually left handed. Turns out my dad had been left handed but had it beat out of him in school. He doesn’t remember this but always wondered why he can use either hand to do things more r less equally. Though I’ve now 4 grandkids none of them r lefties
Lynibis im 56 and my brothers 58 and we never had problem in school being left handed but o/h cousin is just turning 50 this yr and she had her left hand tied behind her back. We went to schools that were bout 5 miles from each other so I think lot depended on teaching staff in the schools. I can’t imagine being beat or my left hand tied behind me in school and I’d have home schooled my kids to stop them having to go through that punishment everyday
I am left handed but over the years due to society I have become more ambidextrous which I really like. So most stuff I can with either hands. No one else in my family is left handed. My Nan on my dads side was ambidextrous as she was forced to use her right hand at school.
My sister and I are both right handed but my dad was left handed. I'm not sure their rare but maybe a minority. I can't believe teachers use to beat it out of kids!
Midnightflower personally, I never heard of beating (maybe a generation or two before mine were beaten) but definitely a ruler slap across the offending left hand as the teacher stalked up and down between the desks.
I couldn’t decide so it was decided for me that I should learn to write with my right hand as it would be easier. However, I still use either hand on door handles and get knife and fork muddled up. So I use my left hand quite a bit but not as much as my right. My husband’s (our) niece is a definite left hand though.
I'm left handed.
Interestingly, In my chosen profession (Chef) there are a larger than average amount of left handers.
blacklabrador saying that my brother who is left handed was a chef in RAF for many yrs
I’m supposedly right handed, but I do almost everything left handed naturally so I don’t know why my school insisted I learn to write with my right hand. I can now write equally well with both.
My politics are left off centre lol but I'm right handed. My brother is left handed and a hard right tory lol.
My family and I are all right handed! But I use knife in my right hand fork with my left haha no idea why?!
I also thought you should use your dominant hand to use knife to cut foods as you can apply more pressure so have been doing that since as a kid!!
I'm right handed... Now interestingly in cricket left handed batsman is favourably paired up with a right handed batsman when they are facing the bowling as an opening pair. It gives them an advantage because they put pressure on the bowler.
Nadiaparveen I’ve heard in lot of sports lefties do better cos the use of left hand confuses others. Saying that I can’t play any sports
Right handed, i think lefties are definitely still the rarer but it’s not super uncommon.
