Life is so Full of Contradictions

Other

The consumer society pushes us to buy newer, better cars,

but politicians do their best to make sure using them is almost financially impossible

Big is beautiful.....but its also unhealthy and lets face it, unattractive.

Women should be free to flaunt their bodies unclothed, but if a male dares to touch, admire or comment he can have his life ruined.

Cigarettes kill but they are still sold for financial gain.

Mental illness is rife but we insist on telling people that they are mentally ill if they are not happy all the time.

The food we eat is mostly unhealthy but we still eat it.

I could go on and on but i am sure you can add many more.

Yeah life is 100% full of contradictions. The government is the worst for it. They want to tell us what we can and can’t do but then also say we should loon after ourselves. People can’t buy drugs because they are harmful to their health but they can buy alcohol and cigarettes.

jms19 I have never been a conspiracy theorist but tbh I am becoming more and more convinced that governments can no longer handle the excessive population and are using climate change as a method of control. High energy costs, paying to drive out of your own street (ok exaggeration but you get my drift), working from home, online schooling, shopping, everything designed to isolate and contain. I might be talking rubbish but I guess time will tell.

I think the world is lost at the moment L , nobody knows what to do about current issues like climate change ,the threat of war and covid , the world politicians are just muddling along making gestures to try to solve these issues but nobody has an answer to them

You have China as an example pumping billions of of tonnes of pollution into our atmosphere , quote , China has seen its emissions increase fourfold , emitting 10.7 billion tonnes of CO2 in 2020 - compared with the UK's 329 million

Thats just one country , the others like India and Russia are also belching it out daily with no thought for others , only for profits

So what we in the UK and Europe try to do is like trying to plug a hole in a dam with chewing gum, a waste of time

I can see population control coming in very soon worlwide as the amount of people living on the planet is unsustainable , maybe even limiting the age you can live to, science fiction i know but how often does fiction become fact

ps sorry about the change in font , i cannot get back to normal after highlighting the top section

telmel Absolutely. How many times have we read sci-fi books that have more or less come true. You touch on age limiting, I think it is wrong to have the elderly kept alive by drugs and living in a zombie like state in front of a TV all day. I have refused statins for that very reason, I would sooner go with a bang than linger in zombie land. Soylent Green is a thought provoking film. It stars Charlton Heston and Ernest Borgnine and I can definitely see the world going that way.

The trouble is, governments want to be elected (where democracy supposedly rules) so they will not bring in harsh or authoritarian laws. They would sooner bring in higher taxes and charges which wouldn't be needed if we were not so highly populated. Personally I would be angrier at the £12.50 ULEZ charge than being told I could only have 2 kids.
