Do Any Members Have Full Fibre Broadband?

Ask a Question

My broadband has been getting progressively worse over that past year or two, to the extent that streaming platforms like Netflix & Apple TV+ buffer five or six times during every film/series we try to watch.

I was with PlusNet fibre - but not full fibre, rather fibre to the nearest green cabinet, and then the rest of the journey made on the old copper based wires.

So I've taken the plunge and gone for a deal on BT Full Fibre 100 - I realise they come and replace the wire from the telegraph pole to the house with a fibre one, and there are a few boxes/junctions to be fitted.

But I was wondering if anybody has Full fibre?

And if so is there a marked improvement on reliability and speed? (My Old PlusNet was something silly like 35MB)

Any information/reviews/advice gratefully received.

Some useful info here on what you need for different resolutions;

I'm only on a full copper connection so get about 6-7 Megabits per second or about 700KB/s. I only stream 480p and 720p pretty much though on kodi and occasionally have issues but most of the time I'm ok. For 4K content I have to download it basically but there isn't much that I need with 4K quality. A few scifi shows and big blockbuster movies I guess. Most 1080p is fine but there isn't much content on Kodi for 1080p. It normally tops out at 720p for most stuff.

However from what you have stated I'm sure if you want full 4K content without pausing I'm sure it will be possible with a full fibre connection as long as the contention ratio is not too high.

BonzoBanana Yes unfortunately we are quite a data heavy house, there could be a couple of people trying to watch a streaming service at the same time, usually in 4K if it's available.

Add to that the various smart speakers that seem to be playing music more often than not, full fibre seemed to be the only option.

I've been with BT for two years and been very happy but the last couple of months it's been buffering a lot . Have a look at BT essentials for cheaper prices ☺️

Pfs I will do thank you.

Can I ask, are you on full fibre? Or just fibre to cabinet?
