Music Magpie Refurbishes Everything? Hah!
Other
I just searched for PS4 and iPhone, and both of them say they're "refurbished" with different grading conditions (Good, Very Good, Excellent)
Refurbished means a person or a company cleaned the hardware and replaced whichever parts needed if they're faulty. Does Music Magpie do that? Probably not. It'd be more accurate to call it Used instead.
This video is from four years ago, but perfectly fair to how products are sold on MM:
So, if you buy from them expect it as a Used item, not Refurbished.
Yes , Music Magpie wipe it down ,do a system restore and "grade" it . Far cheaper to do that and offer a warranty than to actually test it properly .
However my main bitch with Music Magpie is that they always increase their prices on EBay minutes before the "selected seller codes ( 10% ,15% ,20% ) become live . Because of that I would never buy off them although TBF their used book prices are reasonable .
The main difference between "refurbished" and "used" products is that refurbished products have been tested and verified to function properly, and are thus free of defects, while "used" products may or may not be defective.

That means if the product was functioning properly when tested, it is said to be "refurbished". (usually after being cleaned if necessary).
I remember years ago there was a Panasonic AE100 projector which had a high failure rate because the capacitors in the PSU kept failing so there seemed little point buying this product new. It was actually recommended to buy the refurbished model (i.e. repaired) because it had the new upgraded capacitors fitted that solved the reliability problem. I think the price of the new projector was around £1200 but the refurbs were around £700. I used that projector for many years as my home cinema projector and still have it about somewhere. I dread to think how many hours I spent watching movies or playing videogamers with that projector. At the other extreme though refurbished just means a quick wipe down and check over.
