My Name is Bond.....James Bond.
Other
So.......who's it gonna be? Big shoes to fill but I think they need to choose someone in their 30s so they don't have to stop just as we get used to him due to getting too old. I think Sam Heughan (Outlander) would be brilliant. Tom Hardy could do it but would need to brush up on the Queens English as he tends to growl and mumble in his rough and ready roles. I think he would scrub up well.
I would bet against Tom Hardy, he maybe a little too famous. I'm going to go with Christian Cooke, Nicholas Hoult or Dan Stevens after a few visits to the gym.
Yes, I can see Dan as Bond but not Nick although I haven't seen him lately. Don't know Christian Cooke, will Google him.
Yeh he could do it.......and young enough to get several films out of him before he is past it lol.
Lynibis he also played Lucifer so that's a crowd that would watch him just because of that reason alone.
It's a shame Lucifer was canned but the third season was terrible so I don't feel too annoyed.
Rockman didn't watch it but just googled what he had been in and I did recognise him, he has the look for a James bond.
Rockman James Norton would be good too, he is fair haired, but so was Daniel Craig, or that way, certainly not as dark as the others.
How childish can you get? - If you want to fetch my name up on any future threads it might be construed as harrasment. I won't bother replying next time. Your comment bore no relevance to this anyway - I let my British Actors Equity Card expire many years ago.
I'm not sure if posting a link to my profile (which gives nothing to support your inane remark) - is permissible).
davidstockport It's a joke, please do lighten up friend.
Isn't that what you're doing to me anyway buddy, stalking my posts and making snarky remarks?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
jakemoss You are a complete ***** (mustn't say that) if you think I would want to stalk a complete ***** like you. I was sent a notification (which I can prove) of your attempt at what you think is a joke because you linked to my profile.
There is no sarcasm involved. I doubt anyone can see anything "snarky" about my previous reply - or anthing humorous about your comment nominating me as the next James Bond.
davidstockport Clearly you underestimate your capabilities.
You are highly intelligent, exceedingly cunning and diabolically independent.
Excellent characteristics required for the next James Bond.
davidstockport speaking of JB, I am looking forward to all the Daniel Craig ones being shown over the holiday, trouble is I don't know if it will be me or Sophie (her below) watching!
Do unto others etc............
Oh dear, I can see where I have gone wrong. I should have been as truthful with you as you have been in opening up about your personal life. You have shamed me and I must now admit...............
I am actually Lady Sophia Winterbotham, widow of Lord Winterbotham who was a peer in the House of Lords. My staff is severely diminished now I live alone, but I still retain a lady's maid, plain cook and housekeeper. The latter's husband is my chauffeur but I don't go out in the Rolls much these days, people keep mistaking me for the queen, especially when I wear my tiara which came down to me through the Bonaparte line having once belonged to Josephine.
After the death of my husband I fell apart and began seeing a psychiatrist who has told me I have 'compulsive liar syndrome' exacerbated by a heightened sense of self importance. Of course he is totally wrong as a lie has never left my lips, but he keeps telling me it is rooted in my childhood and being raised by Nanny while mummy and daddy were serving abroad. He says only children write silly comments on chat forums, but I am 86 don't you know.
Anyway that is my true and full confession and I beg your forgiveness for pretending I was just an ordinary old woman living in a semi by the sea, comping and dealing all day long!
I would not be surprised if that were true. Makes sense to me. Thanks for sharing your story, dear friend. Best wishes.
Lynnibis your reply to jakemoss had me in stitches. I could hardly read it because I had tears coming down through laughing. You have cheered me up this evening.
That's good Nicola, my alter ego has gone to bed so back to myself now. This split personality thing can be very tiring! X
Well I am still rooting for Sam Heughan and he is a firm favourite now. Fingers Crossed. I really think he would be a brilliant Bond.
Lynibis I love the Bond films. I love Sam in Outlander & he certainly has the eye candy factor, yet for some reason I just cannot see him as Bond. I'd love to see his film career take off tho. In fairness, I never wanted Craig as Bond, at the time I was rooting for Clive Owen but Daniel has become my favourite Bond so I'm willing to be mistaken.
Glitterandgold one of my fave films is Last Knights with Clive Owen.... but I digress. I would find it hard to choose my fave Bond though.
I saw Sam interviewed recently in modern clothes and short hair. My boss really fancies him (he's gay) and said he thought he was even better in real life lol. On looks alone I guess I would agree with blacklabradors choice of RM but failing that James Norton could probably do the job.
Lynibis Hes certainly a very handsome guy I admittedly haven't seen Sam in anything outside Outlander so I think I just struggle to see him as anyone but Jamie Fraser. I only know Madden from GOT too. Oh I like Nortan as a choice, He's a good enough actor I think & has the look. Iv always fancied Michael Fassbender as Bond but he doesnt seem keen to play him.
PS I resurrected this because I was aware it was already buried in the archives, although a repeat would have been justified and earned me 20 points lol. I am aware that there are so many duplicates currently so did not want to add to them!
I think Tom Hardy is not quite clean cut enough, he'd make a great Bond Villain though.
Richard Madden would be my choice.
I like Richard Madden but in GOT and The Bodyguard I found his acting a bit on the wooden side. I like Sam cos he is well built, Scottish (reminiscent of Sean Connery) and quite an action man, easy on the eye too lol.
Lynibis you seem quite a fan, given your change of avatar! To be honest, I wouldn’t mind either of the three you suggested, they’re all gorgeous!
Lynibis did you see Richard Madden in Rocketman? He was great - I really disliked his character!
gerrykelly25 no I didn't I cannot stand Elton John so couldn't watch his life story. I loved bohemian rhapsody though. Lots of actors improve with age and I have no doubt be would be a great bond as a spy should be a bit unemotional and dour!
This is going to be controversial but.....
I don't like James Bond.
Think its because Jaws scared me when he was in a helicopter when I was young
Lol, we can't all like bond. I watch each new one but don't usually give a second view. I was about 10 when they started so have grown with them.
I had to revive this topic - things have changed so much for the actors in the running. Just my opinions and they have changed over the past year.
Actors being considered
I still think Sam Heughan fits the bill but, apparently, he's not well known enough globally....
Tom Hardy doesn't do 'suave' very well but I like him.
Henry Cavill is a treat to look at but consistently wooden!
Richard Madden is too short for a Bond.
Regé-Jean Page........Oh my! but he's still green and even less well known that Heughan.
Tom Hiddleston - great in the Night Manager but unbelievable, for me, after the Taylor Swift chapter.
Idris Elba - love his acting but he looks a little too old for the role now (49)
James Norton - possibly, but I can't imagine him in the role.
Aiden Turner - another oh my! The right height but a little too wiry for the role?
Clive Standen - an actor less well known so perhaps he'll be considered (Rollo in Vikings)
Tom Holland - he's desperate to play Bond but he's a boy!
I'm sure many of you will disagree.....
sunny101 hmmmm really difficult to answer. Like you I fancied Outlander Sam for the part and I guess I would be happy if he got it. My current screen crush is, of course, Uhtred son of Uhtred. He is a small guy but so was Craig, he seems fit and able for the part. I might be a sexist old lady but I really don't want a woman in the part and I dread the woman who briefly became 007 getting it as she had no charisma whatsoever. I don't think women are as hard done by as they make out these days, I can name just as many top female as male actors, and they get just as many gongs and plenty of juicy parts!
Tom Hardy for me every step of the way!!! Can you tell,i'm a Tom Hardy fan...I love his voice and when he's not in character he does speak very nicely. The only thing I wouldn't like is him being type cast as he's a very, very good actor and can play many parts and he's a very, very good looking fella too..
And to add another comment Daniel Craig has been the best James Bond yet besides Sean Connery that is.
plinkyplonk I have to agree, DC was much more believable without the usual smarminess.
