My Neighbour Keeps Feeding Birds and They Are Messing over My Conservatory

Other

I have a neighbour who keeps putting out large amounts of bird seed and every day especially in the mornings a lot of birds keep flying over my conservatory and pooping over the glass roof!

This is becoming a real problem and I am wondering if the council would stop him doing it?

I have approached my neighbour but he is being really obstinate and says he can do what he likes on his property

Yes it's a pain but it's life. The carpark at my work is near woods. I regularly get it covered in bird poop. My old school carpark was under trees and my car was covered in sap. It's horrible but not the end of the world. My neighbours cat went through a phase of pooing on my door mat. I spoke to her. She kept them in for a couple of days and they stopped. Nothing can be done it's not her fault or theirs it's life.

You could maybe get a bird scarer and place that on your Conservatory roof.

Something like a plastic falcon or similar.

It may work, or at least make the birds take a different route to and from the buffet your neighbour lays on for the birds.

One reason I don't use my garden very often.

We only have a small garden and it is covered in bird mess as with most things out there.

Our neighbour has a tree behind his shed at the bottom of his garden, he can't get to the tree, I think it is just there to drop leaves into our garden most of the year and for the birds to land once they've emptied themselves.

We also had a rat problem recently, I know we are in the country and the are building on the wildlife's land but it doesn't help that people put meat out for the birds of prey and foxes, which will be detrimental to the animals and humans in the area. It makes animals less likely to naturally hunt for themselves, becoming more reliant on us and they are becoming more into the towns and more likely to approach people. Some people including babies in pushchairs have been swooped down on and scratched by these massive birds, yet people still think it is a great idea. 😔

Ffs feeding birds of prey isn't good. You need to encourage them but naturally. We have seagulls and they are a nightmare as they go for those with food. Not their fault far from it. Not helped that people don't put rubbish in bins properly and leave lids off or just dump black bags next to bins to be ripped open by seagulls

Exactly! That’s why foxes are in urban areas now

I think the council will only intervene if the bird food attracts vermin, so keep your eyes peeled.
