Notting Hill Carnival
Ask a Question
Will anyone be going to the carnival in Notting Hill this year? I’ve not been for a while, even though I know it’s good fun...albeit crowded...and can be dangerous also
I agree with the other comment it seems like a way too busy carnival to be part of. I hear so many horror stories that I've been put off totally.
Yes it can definitely turn from a happy, joyful event to something more brutal and tragic very quickly. It’s better on the Sunday though, as that’s when they do the kids carnival
I'm not planning to go this year, but I've enjoyed it in the past. I've never had any problems when I've been there.
Years ago I accidentally got trapped with this crowd leaving the metro station as employees redirected people to a different exit so after that, finding a way out of the festival took me like 30min to 60min because everywhere was bordered up.
I didn't feel safe, there was loads of trash, puke, urinating, drunks, junkies, and potentially worse.
And the day after it's over? Garbage everywhere for cleaners to take care of. Oh, and I remember the glass of a bus station was broken to pieces.
Do as you wish, but I'll avoid that.
