What are the Consequences of TikTok Egg-Smashing Trend on Kids?

In the News

You would think it was just idiotic teens that are following these ridiculous TikTok trends , but you would be wrong

You now have parents following and performing the latest one , cracking eggs on their chidrens heads !!!

When will all this nonsense end , with the child traumatised or in this case possibly contracting salmonella ?

I have said this before and i will again, TikTok needs banning before someone is hurt or becomes ill

Well first of all let me say I don't agree with it. However, in the scheme of things I doubt any child will go through significant trauma compared to millions of children the world over suffering pain, hunger, war and bereavement etc.

My worry is the mentality of grown adults who feel the need to copy trends on social media and seemingly act like kids themselves, all for a few insincere comments and likes. I must be weird as throughout my life I have always refused to be led or follow sick and stupid fads. About time these people grew up and took their parenting responsibilities seriously.

There are always these trends and whilst they aren’t great this is one of the less harmful ones.

jms19 The problem is J the kids see the parents taking part in these crazes and think they are ok to follow, cracking eggs on your childrens heads might be harmless but what comes next is the worrying part, when tiktok stunts are getting more extreme

It's gone to far and your teaching kids it's OK to smack someone in the face, film it and share with the world. It's not big clever or funny

Jerseydrew I agree J, it may not seem harmful but there was a craze recently encouraging people to do this as you mentioned, and slap the wrong person and see what could happen

TikTok somehow manages people to make people dumber and more dangerous. And share stuff that used to be behind closed doors.

Example 1:

Example 2:

Meanwhile, TikTok in China known as Douyin is instead a wholesome and educational platform.

I don't use TikTok, but obviously know how bad it is and if it were banned in every entire Western country I'd not be against it. However, I guess something just as toxic would replace it (remember MySpace? FaceBook).

On a sidenote, I've been watching Douyin via the app and their videos really are a lot nicer and sanitized. None of the nonsense and craziness allowed in the Western version.

I downloaded the Android app from here: www.apkpure.com/douyin/com.ss.android.ugc.aweme

It's bad enough the kids doing stupid stuff on tiktok to follow trends but parents they should know better some of the trends are dangerous I was down the park the other kids and 2 little boys about 6 or 7 were making videos for tiktok with loads of grass why are parents letting kids on tiktok as you see a lot of bad things on it I wouldn't want my grandkids seeing I don't know if it has a age restriction and they don't see everything
