Would you pay £175 to free a lobster?
A woman paid this amount in a restaurant for a live lobster but not to eat it, she left with it and released it into the sea!

No. This is a really kind gesture but sadly the reality is that it's likely to be recaught...
I personally think boiling them alive should be banned. There should be a procedure to kill them just before they are put in the water that is more instant and as painless as possible. I've never had lobster and don't plan to start. It shows people at their most vile to be honest. If you are taking the life of a creature to eat surely you must try to make their death as painless as possible.
BonzoBanana I am not a vegetarian but I agree with you 100%. I remember Ricky Gervais talking about being in some country where they were skinning dogs alive and laughing about it. You may not like his humour but he loves dogs.
Lynibis Yet if they were skinned alive they wouldn't appreciate it I'm sure. I detest the mentality of some who have no compassion for others but expect everyone to treat them well. I treat others like I want to be treated and I would always choose to be as kind as possible to animals regarding slaughter. Most religions are compassionate to animals, perhaps not Judaism and Islam but many others are especially Indian religions. I'm not religious myself but empathy seems like the right path in life to me.
I don’t eat lobster. I think the method is really cruel and they should find a more humane way. But paying £175 just to free one is a bit mad. You have lost all that money and will probably be re caught anyway.
I had lobster a few years ago, I didn't like it,it's not for me, I don't understand why anybody would want it
