Poundland
In the News
Poundland are to open further stores in the UK. I love this shop. Anyone else a Poundland fan?
Not a fan. Almost everything I have purchased is a complete waste of money. Asda is far superior when it comes to quality.
I used to love them, but now not much is a £1 in there and those that are, are often cheaper in other stores that I'm more likely to already be visiting for other things.
For stationary and crafts I much prefer The Works or The Range.
I did visit a Poundland that had clothes once though and got some great items for my nieces and nephews, decent quality for a couple of pounds, they even had Spiderman items and characters the children know and love. This was on the way to visit family who live further north, so it isn't local to me. The nearest Poundland's don't seem to be worth it anymore, sadly.
I like poundland but since 4 years ago not been in much since we moved to a very small village
I do love these cheapo shops but it’s a shame there is no real pound shop anymore where everything really was a pound.
There was a fire at our local store and they had to relocate. Everyone was waiting till they opened up again. I like the clothing section, especially for my son.
I use to love them as was value for money and most things were a pound now it's not with prices from a pound instead.
Half time things are priced wrong or placed on wrong shelf.
Hardly any staff on tills more pushing for self serve instead.
They were better when everything was £1. Now many of the items are more than £1, sometimes it's obvious that they are more than £1 and other times it's not.
We also have one below stores around us which is a £1 pound shop but I have noticed the new store in the centre of Leeds is call one beyond and selling more expensive items than £1.
I like the poundshop but I get annoyed that so many items cost more than a pound now. It doesn't help that they don't label stuff properly on the shelves.
I agree with some comments here. I love Poundland but prices are not always £1 nowadays - many items are £1.25!
ellengully I once visited all the Poundland and like stores around for super glue and tipex, and they had neither. So... I just ordered it via eBay (super glue) and Amazon (3 tipex for £3 so not too bad).
I'd rather support local stores if possible, except, when they don't have what I need then there isn't much choice than buy it online. Oh, AliExpress is also very good (deliveries do take 2-3 weeks, so keep that in mind).
I like poundland but recent visits have shown some empty shelves, some items that have moved from £1 to £1.75 like batteries and are no longer competitive with some other shops. There is also shrinkflation at work on some products like their toblerone alternative. Some items have just disappeared completely and no longer part of their range.
I was a fan when they first opened and as the name suggests everything was a £1.00 and they did have actual savings, now they’re just another B&M/Home Bargains/Poundstretcher - the savings aren’t really there in Poundland or anywhere else anymore
