Poundshop Amalgamated With Poundland

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but Poundshop seems to have gone today, and all links are going to Poundland, I'm quite sad, I enjoyed finding and posting, what I thought, were good bargains at Poundshop, and I'll miss it, how do you feel, do you think you will get the same deal at Poundland or will they be dearer?
Sounds like they were taken over by Poundland or maybe it was a sub brand that they decided to get rid of. Less choice is never good for the consumer. I used to love the 99p store and they were around for a while and then they merged into poundland. There was different stuff at the 99p store that I preferred at the time.
BonzoBanana Yes they were taken over by Poundland a few months ago, it was all over the news at the time, but things just carried on as normal with them, and I wouldn't have known any different if I hadn't clicked on a Poundshop deal I had posted to see that it was still active, and I got Poundland instead, there was no warning or email or anything, so I don't know what will happen with all the Poundshop deals already posted on LDs, perhaps they will all get reported for ponts! 
jam45 Well they are the same company now anyway! .
I never went in a 99p shop, there wasn't one close enough, but at least they did sell things for 99p, Poundshop's often sell things for multiple pounds, so where did that come from, and why are they still allowed to trade under that name, it's a mystery! 
JoTarpley A bit like ebay auctions taking over yahoo auctions just to close it down basically or taking over gumtree and stopping it do online sales to limit its effect on ebay. Buy your competitors and negate their effect on your business.
Does that mean that they are now changing the name of the store from Poundshop and Poundland to now a store which doesn't sell items for a £1.
