How to Safeguard Against Drink Spiking

I thought this was to brilliant not to share. If you have kids that are of clubbing age, or going off to uni this is a great way to help keep them safe. It's a multifunctional hair scrunchie. Can be worn on the wrist and then cleverly used to cover a glass to prevent their drink from being spiked. I checked on amazon and depending on which brand these are really cheap. I put a generic picture with no branding to keep this post fair and non promotional. 
It seems a really good idea but wouldn't the liquid drug go through the fabric, although I suppose speed isn't then on the side of the perpetrator, so they might move on to an easier target? It's a crazy world out there. I'm really glad I'm not young!

Spiking can happen at any age..
I decided to go out for my first night out 4 months after my Mum passed away,wasn't going to but had bought a new outfit,had my hair done & my sister was making the effort even though she had been diagnosed with Rhuamatiod Arthritis .
We were in the Rawson Springs pub at Hillsborough,Sheffield Feb 2010,my 2 sisters & our long time friends enjoying a catch up..
I went to toilet,when I didn't return after a few minutes my 2 friends came looking for me & found me collapsed behind the toilet door & alerted staff.
Friends phoned an ambulance & alerted the rest the people we were with,my sisters had already left the pub as my older sister couldn't stay out as she was in pain so my other sister was making sure she got home.
I managed to walk to the ambulance, my long time friend came with me,I had to have my head glued then we got a taxi to mine,she took me home,couldn't get answer from mine as my partner was on a Sleep In & young daughter staying at my brother & sister in law.my 2 friends were supposed to stay at mine but it turns out they stayed at one of their homes as they couldn't get into my house.
I stayed at the friend who had taken me to the Northern General Hospital & woke up the following day,collapsed again & had to be checked out..
I was 46,DON'T drink a lot & DON'T mix my drinks..

janphoenix51 That's shocking to hear (was this recently?). I am so sorry that you have been affected/targeted. I suppose it is assumed that it is the youngsters who are usually targeted but if they want something you have i.e. cash, phone or even car keys then everyone is at risk.

janphoenix51 I'll bet you didn't go out much straight after that either, it would certainly put me off going out.
Sadly there is so much shocking behaviour 'out there' now, the country isn't what it used to be.
Someone tried to spike me once when I was younger but they were hardly a master mind.It all drifted at the top of the glass lol.
Looks pretty but I don’t get it. It could still be spiked through a straw. The only way is to get your own drink and not leave it out of your sight. I was never ‘spiked’ but when young someone tried to get me drunk. Thinking I wasn’t used to alcohol. Well they insisted it was just orange juice but I didn’t trust them and when I tasted it I could tell they put something alcoholic in. I said I didn’t like it and they said you must it’s just orange juice. The friend I was with said she would have it. It was a family member of hers so I said ok. Guess who went home with a pounding headache! It wasn’t me, I was just fine.
I get your points just thought it looked like a good idea not bullet proof but still a deterrent
Great idea but too easy to still spike drink. I've had my drink spiked, had told someone to watch my drink they followed me to toilet instead
JLouM yes spent most the night wondering why I felt weird after not drinking much only realised after I woke up believing I was in a nightclub with the noise and flashing lights but was really in my bed alone in the dark. The people did it for a "joke".
JLouM agreed. It wasn't a friend just people I knew. They was being funny cause I wouldn't date their married friend
I've never had my drink spiked, but then again I've only been to a club twice and I never left my drink unattended. I just don't enjoy drinking and going out. I can't imagine how awful it must be for someone to be spiked.
Sad that this goes on but people do have to be aware to protect themselves. I think a lot of clubs nowadays do offer things like this to stop people being spiked but this is a very cool idea.
I don't understand how people can be so cruel and spike strangers drinks. The effects of spiking can be devastating. I remember watching this morning video on YouTube of one their staff members .. somebody spiked her drink on holiday and now she is disabled. She can't speak and is immobile 
There are some places that do this idea with paper covers but now you just have to be so careful. When going out alway stick with someone never leave or be in your own and this can apply to drinks being spiked or things stolen
Looks cute how practical I don't know if you're going to leave a drink to go to the bathroom always an idea to ask a trusted friend or even as for it to be put behind the bar so I guess this could be a good identifier to know it's your drink
I was spiked on my 40th birthday luckily my daughters were with me at the time and got me home safe 1 minute I was fine the next I'd gone out for a smoke but couldn't stand up was all over the place was ill for 2days after not had a drink since in a way they did me a favour
It's sad we live in a world like this. That people are sick and twisted out there
I had my drink spiked years ago. Still can't drink in that pub not even a soft drink. I was fine. I got booted from the pub dispite those with me saying my drink was spiked. I had the intelligent to ring the guy I was seeing at the time who clocked something was wrong. I've no memory of it
