Puppy with Seperation Anxiety - Help!

Help

Help, I got a puppy just before Xmas and I have been with her 24/7, even sleeping downstairs with her. It was originally just to help her settle in (I know I should have just left her the first night) but now I can’t leave her at all coz she just cries/barks. Even if I go to the bathroom for 30 seconds, even if someone else is in the room with her, she still cries/barks for me. Its showing no signs of easing off either so anyone got any ideas how to leave her but without her getting worked up and upset. She’s my baby so I feel guilty even if she whimpers 😭 (don’t say Im too soft coz I already know that, I just want help to ease the separation) thank you 😊

It's quite a complex problem this article gives some very good advice on how to help overcome it. Perhaps one suggestion that should be strongly implemented is that if there is anyone else in the household who can feed her, let that person do so (but not every time). https://pethelpful.com/dogs/Helping-Dog-who-are-Too-Attached-to-the-Owner

suzymc2308 The pup probably just regards your daughter as another member of the pack - one thing NEVER to do is to let the pup have anything such as a piece of clothing slipper or shoe as a "comforter" - that is unless you want her to think that type of thing are toys - and want your shoes or slippers ripping up at a later date.☺

It's easier to train a dog than untrain one.

Aww that's so cute. I used to reward my dog for being left. Like leave him with a kong toy stuffed with treats that would take him a while to get out. You have to just practice leaving them. Start with just a few minutes and gradually get longer. Shes still learning about the world and everything is scary to her right now. Also don't fuss her when you leave else she'll want to follow you more.
