Saturday Post Could Be a Thing of the Past....

Other

Would you be happy to have no post over the weekend?

Royal Mail are considering stopping their saturday deliveries to save money.

Really don't think it will bother me as I get so little mail these days I probably wont notice .

Mango4 I get little to no mail now. Last Wednesday I got a first class letter dated 3 weeks ago.

I am still awaiting my Tesco Clubcard voucher posted in August and my Morrison loyalty card too plus various mail I have forgotten about.

It is a shame that RM seems to have all but destroyed itself.

We used to get deliveries twice a day, now we are lucky to get the only delivery before 3pm.

Yet another case of bad management!?

It’ll make no difference to us, we consider ourselves lucky if we get any post! Our postie apologised saying when she’s off on leave or sickness there’s no cover.

Bit sad for kids and adults who have weekend birthdays as a possible 2/7ths of the population probably have.

I don’t like to complain about the post but we hardly get it delivered in the week, let alone the weekend. We seem to get a bundle on one day.

I get my post every morning between 10/10.30 Mon to Sat unless my usual postie is off sick. If they’re off on holiday there’s always cover but if they’re off on sick leave it’s hard to get cover and I might just get post every other day but honestly most important Mail is usually sent by email these days with maybe a follow up letter. Posties start work early to sort out mail, parcels etc before setting off to even deliver it to us and walk streets in all weathers just to do that. My brother and brother in law have both been posties, my brother for 33yrs and my bil bout 20yrs. Both do all their rounds on foot, both have been bitten by dogs, my brother has even been knocked down by driver putting on her lipstick in rear view mirror rather than looking forward. Nowadays young people are happy enough to walk bout in warmer weather but not so happy when it’s pouring down or heavy snow. I think it needs an overhaul like most businesses but Royal Mail have cut staff, cut hours and therefore it means late deliveries and 2nd class service for a lot of people

I know someone who works for Royal mail and staff morale seems very very low especially after all the striking had little or no effect on pay or work systems

I’m going to be so upset. I love getting mail, I remember when I was little I always got excited, I couldn’t wait to grow up and get more mail, now as an adult nothing has changed, I still love mail, I even find ways to increase the amount of mail I get

Royal Mail need to move with the times, it won't actually bother me as I get hardly any mail at all. Our postie was off sick for 6 weeks and they struggled to get cover so we weren't getting deliveries, people that were waiting for important post were having to go to the sorting office to collect it.

Yet again, whittling down the service and increased postage prices for a sub standard service. RM is fast becoming obsolete.
