Can Japanese Scientists Make Teeth Regrowth a Reality?

This would be everyones dream, to be able to regrow their adult teeth
No more dentures or implants
Japanese scientists are hoping this is what they will be able to do very soon
They are already trying it on mice and ferrets and if successful we are next
You could say there is a 'gap' in the market here
So many questions...
Do you have to still have the root? and in good condition? So is it a stimulation drug?
Is it a drug that is to be placed in a specific area? or could we grow teeth elsewhere?
Can we control the amount of teeth that grow? Say you have a few missing but only wanted/needed 1 or 2?
Will it eventually alter our genes or is this a temporary solution to our body?
I would be interested in the cost and I know it said it was use in children with a certain issue but could it work on others and I would hope it would be regulated, so those that deliberately didn't care for their teeth couldn't just use it for an easy fix but those that it is effecting badly by missing teeth could make use of it but at a lower price than those that just want it. (I can see it being a cost divide again)
I'll be interested to see if any of these questions are answered in the upcoming announcements. But it is great that science is coming further and I hope this helps many people.
I imagine that the costs would mean that the masses (us) wouldn't be able to afford it anyway...

Wow this would be absolutely amazing costs a fortune going to the dentist now dentist wouldn't want this to happen they would be out of pocket
I still have all my own teeth and not one filling yet and I’m over 50. One of my elderly friends needed two new front teeth. At the moment she has temporary replacements while they make her new set but yesterday they came out while she was eating a jacket potato, she thought she had swallowed them but luckily found them in the potato. Regrowing teeth would be amazing.
That would be really amazing, I have a dentist app in a few weeks, dreading it, not been since the pandemic started

I'm in my 50s and not missing any teeth yet but do have one or two fillings I think. Some animals can regrow missing limbs and other genetic traits that we lack. I wonder if they have found a way to turn on the right genetic switches to enable tooth regrowth. I wonder if it will be every 5000th customer starts growing extra teeth in the wrong places? Not all drugs come to market, some may have terrible side effects and other issues. There have been some people that have predicted drugs that change our genetics could be the end of us as we don't fully understand genetics as there are billions of instructions to learn. It maybe something that we will need AI for to fully understand DNA and then we will have to trust AI minds not to create genetic drugs that turn us into zombies etc.
I watched World War Z yesterday fully after only watching it partially in the past so perhaps that's responsible for my reference to zombies.
I strongly feel drugs that genetically alter people's DNA should not be used where that person may create offspring that have effected DNA from their medication. I think that is asking for trouble if they allow that. So we end up with lots of altered DNA in the gene pool.
BonzoBanana The problem is B that chemicals in food and our water supply etc is already affecting our DNA and genetics, just look at the abnormalities in children in the likes of India for example, maybe we need scientists to not only discover how to regrow things but also rectify faulty DNA ?
telmel Our DNA gets a hammering throughout life, there are always mutations and degrading of our DNA over time. Many viruses have no symptoms and we pick them up and they degrade our DNA. Perhaps part of the ageing process is just picking up viruses as we live our lifes which degrades us. However with that said I feel there is a risk of genetic drugs beyond that. I mean they may have moved a portion of DNA from another animal that regrows teeth and adapted it to work with human DNA and then we find out other attributes come with the drug we weren't expecting. One possible issue is the body no longer recognises itself as having the right DNA so it attacks itself so instead of growing new teeth it just destroys itself attacking all tissues.
Thats great, we need some good news, considering the current issue with dentists.
I haven't been to a dentist in a while not that I have any issues with my teeth currently so tried to sign up with two local dentists as a NHS patient. The first one said no and then offered private treatment with a list of prices and the other said no but said I could join the waiting list so did that. Yes I know I could pay for private treatment but really don't want to do that so will play the waiting game but if a issue comes up I guess I'll have to pay privately.
