Selling Your Electrical Spares and Repairs.

Other

Had to share this! Our dishwasher has broken. And I just looked on eBay at what parts go for… check this out on average you can get around £100 for selling the individual parts like the trays, the tablet dispenser, the cutlery holder, the spinning washing arm, even the feet!! And that’s £100 towards a new machine. Iv not looked at other appliances parts yet, but we’ll worth thinking about before you throw out that old broken electrical item.

Makes sense why so many companies offer recycling collection when delivering your new item, and charge you for it!

Stripping products for sale is a common criminal activity too. The criminal will steal a car, motorbike or pushbike and that vehicle will never be seen again but they will be stripped of parts to sell on ebay etc which is far lower risk crime. The only issue for criminals is how do they get rid of the main chassis or frame but there are always companies that will take scrap illegally and perhaps crush them. Bike frames are easy to destroy or dispose of.

Absolutely! It amazes me how many people just throw their old bathrooms away, when the metal can be worth a lot on it's own, so at least remove the taps/faucets first.

Many people will ask for someone who collects scrap metal to just take their items away as it is easier to dispose of, but you should make sure it is someone who won't just dump what they don't want from it, as if it is traced back to you, you are the one that will get a hefty fine for fly tipping.

You should check they are a registered business with the correct licences, you can check this on the government website.

I cleared my garden early this year, I had some broken tools, an old child's trampoline and some other odds and ends. Someone collected the lot as 'metal' it saved me paying for disposable or the 35minute drip to the nearest tip/dump/recycling centre. But I'm guessing those that collect metal are making money from it or they wouldn't do it.

I was also shocked that someone took our used hay and straw from our animals (they are vegetarian animals, so it is okay for some people to use) it makes the greatest compost and the straw that was barely used was great insulation for plants and crops.

Saved myself some money and others got use and made money from it.

I wouldn't trust myself to take a larger appliance apart though 😆
