So You Think Tap Water is Clean ?

Ask a Question

If you drink tap water, take a look at this

This is what a tap water pipe that brings water to your house looks like

And water pipes to apartment complexes are supposed to be worse

Don't be fooled by the water companies telling you your water is totally clean

Its said tap water is the most underrated cause of disease, loaded with heavy metals, pesticides, fluoride, chlorine.

This is part of the reason water is heavily chlorinated

I have always drank tap water after being told it is very clean after processing

But that's before finding this photo of the inside of a typical water pipe

I will definitely carry on using my water filter

That's disgusting! I only drink bottled water these days and now I can see that it was a wise decision. I obviously cook vegetables etc in water that has come from the tap but only after it has been boiled first.

Isn't it nice to see that these water companies have our health at the core of their businesses!!

tumblespots My thoughts too T, i have tried to find further info on this, but i can only find articles from the water companies themselves praising their own water quality

I don't think they would appreciate this sort of publicity , especially after the sewerage fiasco

telmel They just take it in their stride and lie their heads off trying to convince us all that nothing is wrong. As usual - no-one is actually accountable.

telmel I agree with you. I only drink cheap sparkling bottled water and still water long before it became fashionable to drink bottled water.

telmel I agree - I only drink bottled when there's no other option and tend to stick to supermarket's own 👍

Consumer Good choice C

I did read an article once where someone was saying they only drink perrier water as it is a better quality and you can taste the difference

I don't know about you but water tastes like water to me , perrier or Aldi , no different , except for the sparkle

Yeah that is enlightening to see the inside of a water pipe. Definitely looking into getting a water filter now

Put a charcoal filter under your sink. Will remove any contaminants. Chlorine and fluoride evaporates, so if you fill a jug and leave it on the side for an hour, it's mostly gone.

Be careful buying bottled water. The only bottled water worth buying is mineral water. 'Spring' water only has to meet the same criteria as tap water to be sold here. And that's often exactly what it is.

Also, be aware that drinking out of malleable plastic bottles, will inevitably lead to consuming phthalates and other micro-plastics

Even natural spring water is going to be passing through channels with dead animals and other stuff but its just filtered out. It's not like natural spring water goes through spotlessly clean pipes its going through natural openings in rocks with algae and other stuff, probably lots of excrement but all filtered out. I just feel filtering tap water is the best option and the best value even if the pipes are badly corroded and full of sludge in places. Probably the only way to get decent water is collect rain water and filter that. I'm also completely against importing water it is so environmentally and economically irresponsible.

It's as clean as you can expect it to be. Bottle water you have to trust that where its bottled and come from is clean as well
