I always start early spreads the cost out. Makes it easier and I buy less tat aimed at Christmas for those that are Christmas shopping in December

No go for it. I start shopping in the January sales for next Christmas. It saves a fortune and means less financial stress in December.

We used particularly when the kids were younger and content with most things, but now we just buy in the weeks leading up to Christmas as we usually find that in recent years many shops have deals and offers around then. In fact shops seem to clear their Christmas stuff at least 1-2 weeks before Christmas now , not like it used to be when nothing was reduced until boxing day.

I buy all year round for Christmas, certainly children's clothes in bigger sizes that are in the sale, I keep a notebook of things that i've put by ready to gift.

HEDGEHOGS I never thought of that. To keep a notebook of what I have purchased. Instead I either store it in the front room or on top of my wardrobe and just before Christmas, I look inside the various bags of purchases to decided who gets what.

jam45 It's so much easier to have a note of everything or just create a spreadsheet so it's easily accessible 😀.

I have a few items that I just give away to family & friends. The other weekend I picked up Feather & Down Bath Salts for £3 as they were discontinued, I took 2 lots, leaving some for other people as I hate it when others take everything leaving nothing..

I gave some Bath Salts to my sister to help her sleep & some to my Student Radiographer daughter to help her sleep in her new flat..

I used to start in the January sales when my four children were younger and get things throughout the year. Now they are all adults I don’t have that worry anymore.

This thread came at the perfect time lol I'm glad I'm not the only one I've recently started when I see things at a decent price or a bargin, why wait until December if you can get it now at a steal and just store it unless it's got a use by date of course

Never too soon if you have the space. Some things rise in price later in the year so makes sense to do

I normally buy throughout the year, whenever I see a good deal, handy for birthdays as well. Friends and family get premium brands but within my budget. Hardest thing is remembering where I have stored them 😀

With conditions being the way they are now a day's, it's always a good idea to plan ahead be it saving money or buying gifts. I have a few things already but the only thing I keep forgetting about is a Christmas card for my Mam.

I have a few things already put by. I tend to buy things as I see them. I am going to set a monetary limit this year as I did last year.

I also do gift bags for kids who wouldn't be getting presents, as their parents might not be able to afford it. I put pyjamas & tops, Lego, a selection box, colouring pens& books in there so tend to buy throughout the year especially the pyjamas as I can pick up 2 packs for approx £5 in the sales. Been doing it for a few years.

No it’s never too early especially with price of things now. When my kids were young their dad and I would start in January sales 😂. Must admit I’ve got some great deals with this site that I’ve already set aside for Christmas

It’s never to early, I always use to start in the January after Christmas but due to space I start later now. Although if I see something that would suit a person I’m going to be buying gifts for, I will buy and put back especially if I’m on holiday be it in the uk or abroad as if it’s something you might not see again at home, why not.

Also if you do shopping early you avoid lots of people in the shops in December.

I think it’s to early for Christmas music until it’s December but not for the other things

Me personally I don't think its too soon at all. I always buy when stuff is reduced or in the sales throughout the year if and when I have the money. Don't like being around crowds at Christmas so its easier for me to buy most of it during the year when I can.

No not too early at all, never to early in my opinion, everyone is different and there's always people that will say it "spoils" it by getting bits throughout the year, however these are the blessed folks who tend to have bigger budgets, for myself personally I get stuff as and when I see it cheap, as I could not afford to do it all in the festive season. I got some seriously cheap pulling crackers, 10 luxury crackers reduced to £1, in the jan sales, so I got 3 boxes, that must have been about 10 years ago, there's only ever 2-4 of us in my house for Xmas dinner, I used the last 2 Christmas just gone, couldn't find any in the sales this year, so now it pains me to know I'm going to have to fork out for new full price ones this year🤣🤣🤣

At a farmers market this weekend the man on the fudge stall told us that he had had many customers stashing his wares away for Christmas. People start early these days.
