Summer Holiday Childcare

My husband and I are both teachers so it isn't an issue for us. But my best friend and her husband are doing it so that one of them is on their 2 weeks holiday and the other at work and then vice versa and then Grandparents and holiday club where needed. My other friend has kept them in nursery during the holidays.

It's a nightmare we will be asking family to help and hoping we can muddle through.

When my son was at school age, his father and I used to two weeks off, one week solo and one week as a family, so that left 3 weeks to cover, the Sports clubs didn't really work as they started at 10 - 3.30 so weren't ideal if you are both working parents, so it was child minders for the reminder as we didn't have any family living. It was worst when he got to 12 as he was age out of a lot of things but too young to be left alone. Sent him to Summer camp once, for a couple of weeks.

I feel for those that need to use holiday clubs. They are expensive. Sadly it's not a massive profits type business cos of out goings. I've worked in one. They had to pay a massive rent to the school and then there's staffing costs as we are all qualified professionals and there's the need for storage for toys not in use term time.

Helped out with grandkids in the past.
