Just been reading that Morrison will be selling paper shopping bags for 20p each. And the reusable bags have gone from 10p to 15p.

If it's any thing like primemark paper bags it will be rubbish. Because primemark bags. tear be for you are out of the shop. I all was take my own bags with me. What do you make of it. 🛍🛍🛍🛍

I do my main shopping at Morrisons every weekend but recently I've actually been popping into Iceland more often. They always have sooooo many offers on there e.g. packet of crips for £1 when in Morrisons its £2. Poundland is a good shout for snacks too. Its a shame about the bags - 15p for a bag - RIDIC!

Shame they are charging for paper bags - primark give them away free. It would encourage people to move away from plastic.

They're trying to be more green, as they’ve got some bottle recycling reverse vending machines in select stores, so I’m not surprised they’re doing this. I refuse to be caught out though - I’ll always have my own bags, or if not, I’ll just bypass the shopping (if I can)

Importance of Using Paper Bags

While plastic bags remain a popular choice especially in supermarkets and grocery stores, the paper bag has come a long way since its exception hundreds of years ago. Despite sometimes being lazily associated with bags that rip, paper bags are now developed to be durable and long-lasting allow you multiple uses, like a traditional plastic bag. However, unlike a plastic bag, a paper carrier bag is much safer for use by children and thanks to their rigid nature they can normally hold more items that a similarly sized bag made from plastic.

Attention is turning to the way plastic is used and disposed of, but this is not a problem for bags made from paper – they are much more environmentally friendly. You can even recycle our products made from paper. This is one of the main advantages of paper bags over plastic bags. Paper bags are also biodegradable and therefore post less of a risk to wildlife.
