We are not handy but try to get anyone round to do simple jobs is a nightmare they say it's be 3 months and charge a fortune it's not just me it's seems to be everyone you ask around here any one else have these problems?

They are over run. The whole covid thing has meant people are wanting to do up homes
I run a trade/retail shop and the vast majority of the trades people we see are booked up for 4+months and some over a year
We had a leak in our bathroom last week. Plumber came out that morning and fixed the problem, was a very reasonable price too. It was a small job so was able to fit us in. When we got our bathroom done last year we only had to wait 3 weeks, as soon as the materials came in, they were round a few days later. Might be different now though, haven't needed or wanted to get anything done recently.

I think we have just accepted that we need to wait for tradesmen to fit us in. Saying that we only waited a week when we had the new floor done
rowley1943 we've been lucky. Even when we needed an electrician he was able to come out either that day or the next.
My friends partner decided to retire early and take up a job as a local handyman. After a quiet start he was soon in demand with the local elderly needing simple things doing, even replacing a light bulb. They’re so grateful they actually pay him more than he quoted.
We are the same we pay a extra if the man is helpful and does a good job! He sounds just what we need here!
