UK weather is set to be warmer than Spain’s as forecasters predict temperatures to top 30C next week, potentially breaking the record for June and setting off summer.

BBC Weather forecaster Matt Taylor said Britons can look forward to a "return of summer" as thermometers prepare to skyrocket thanks to an incoming hot spell.

Mr Taylor said: "By Sunday temperatures widely just in the low 20s and the outlook whether you are in Scotland, England or Wales we’ll see temperatures in the low to high 20s, and one or two spots – particularly across west and southern England and East Wales could get to around 30C.

"Certainly turn out to be a return of summer."

The BBC Weather meteorologist added that an area of low pressure closing in on Britain over the weekend will cause temperatures to rise "day by day" to peak around 30C next week.

That's hardly anything. In other countries that's where the heatwave becomes so hot it even makes breathing a bit tough to handle.

abedweather55 Way down in Dover with the mountains and the sea, it can be pretty fresh or cold depending on the person's perception of warm/cold weather.

Dover almost looks like a country of its own because it hardly seems to be as the rest, it has gorgeous mountains, the houses are all traditional and it's away from the big cities. They still drive on the "wrong" side, too. 😜

Lots of vehicles pass by Dover to cross over to France but a quiet, lovely area.

Ziad4321 yes,

as you can see, the jet stream has moved towards the arctic meaning that warm air can come to the Uk.

but out on Friday, you can see

the jet stream has moved toward the center of the Uk, bringing the low pressure back means rain and cooler air. It also means that there will be a massive decrease in the temperature

It has been ridiculously hot in Dalkeith the last two days and it is to continue all week! It is also really hot up in the Highlands where my parents live, so Scotland is certainly getting it!

MrsCraig Ha ha you have to laugh at Gary Spinnaker and all the other fannies on the program giving it large because they won and being so utterly condescending to the other team because wow they scored one goal lol

Wait till England play a good team I cannot wait to see them get lashed (old school term not a bondage reference by the way but as you are Scottish i presume you ken that yin) and see Spinnaker and fannies make all the excuses under the sun for why they lost - at least when the Scots lads lose we just take it on the chin and admit yeah we were utter crap!

PS. To the mod in Scotland a "Fanny" is a silly person not a reference to the posterior or anterior anatomy depending whether you are English or American lol

The weather has been going nuts these days in countries/continents. If it was just rain, great. But bring rain + thunderstorms and you got to be hopeful it goes away as soon as possible.

I've felt it so close that I thought the whole building and ground was gonna crack wide open. That damn bad.

garygemmell is it not becuase of global warming. Apparently the jet stream has moved up north meaning this warm air can sway into the Uk. However on saturday the jet stream will start to move towards the south of England meaning that most of the Uk will be a lot cooler by the end of the week. But by cooler, I mean 20 degrees which is still quite warm

JessHindle We may make a small effect on the weather but its the planet itself its changing as it always has - A volcano spews out more toxic chemicals in a day than humans do in a year and there are volcanos all over the world - we are sitting on a massive atom bomb rememeber - Trump is right this global warming nonsense was just another way to con us with carbon credits , increased taxes , make us buy new cars - thats the conspiracy theory in reality not global warming!

One thing i do agree with though is that we are killing all the animals in the sea with pollution of that there is no doubt and cutting the rainforests down and destroying all the oxygen creators and carbon dioxide scrubbers which does affect the atmosphere. Swiss scientists warned us 30 years ago that Benzene (comes from petrol) if it were to become prevalent in the atmosphere would change our DNA and cause men to become infertile / homosexual call it what you will but we are engineering our own doom. That and all the female hormones pumped into the rivers its turning men female apparently thats why LGBT is now such a big issue!

What a downer - literally - my kite was as flaccid as a pancake - no change there then!

>;o)

I'm off to Meteora to visit the James Bond Monastery and the Oracle at Delphi in 2 or 3 weeks then Petra after that.

Ahh the joys of retiring at 40!!!

Consider yourself lucky it's just that and not a mixture of rain, hail and/or thunderstorms. I'd say this is the result of the climate change.
