What's Your Best Tip for Keeping Healthy?
Ask a Question
What tip have you got for keeping healthy is it vitamins or something else now spring is here I need to get healthy!
I don't think it is possible to be healthy just because you desire to be so as it depends on your genes and many other factors. But regular chat readers will know that I get really cross with people who do nothing to improve or care for their own health.
If you feel you don't eat enough fruit for Vit C, get enough Vit D3 from being in the sun, enough Iron from red meat or leafy veg then you could benefit from a multi vitamin each day. Also keeping active is a given. If you drink or smoke you will be less healthy than those who don't.
But having said all this fate is a fickle mistress and lots of diseases are down to fate.

Midnightflower that sounds simple but life has a kick, some develop dreadful often life threatening illnesses even following good regimes.
Pjran your absolutely right, I've seen people die of cancer when they have never smoked, not been a drinker, excersized regularly and eaten well. It's incredibly sad that life can be so unfair.
Obviously there's lots of health conditions that our completely out of a person's control and they can't do anything about them.
But many conditions can be improved by looking after yourself. The way the NHS is at the moment, I think it's important to do everything you can to stay healthy.
Go to regular health screenings for example like smears, early detection is important to check out anything with your GP that isn't normal for you.
Simple things like a healthy diet and regular exercise can make a huge difference. You don't have to be in the gym every day but get yourself outside for walks in the fresh air is both great for your physical and mental health.
Diet wise make sure your getting your 5 a day and eating a variety of fruit and vegetables. Avoid too many high fat / high sugar options keep them for occasional treats.
Cutting down on the amount of alcohol you consume can make a big difference to your health.
It's a good idea to have Vitamin D during the winter months. I don't see any day light when I'm working in the winter, so make sure I take vitamins D along with a zinc & magnesium.
Smoking is known to be harmful if you can cut down or stop smoking altogether this will improve your health.
Lastly get enough sleep.
