What's on Your Xmas Day Menu?
Ask a Question
It's up to me to cook Christmas Day food again, mind you, MrsChimp could burn a cup of tea.
So for this year, I will hopefully doing the following.......
Breakfast : Bucks Fizz and a mince pie.
Then we're getting on to leek and potato soup as a starter.
For lunch it's roast turkey, parsley and thyme stuffing, pigs in blankets, spouts, cauliflower cheese, honey roast parsnips, roast potatoes and cranberry sauce.
Pudding : An open apple tart thing from Aldi which is a favourite (I don't do pastry).
If we're not kipping by then, I've got some cheeses, paté and crackers.
And an Irish coffee to finish.
So what's your menu? That's my plan, but MrsChimp will probably go to sleep after lunch
Prawn cocktail or chicken noodle soup followed by turkey, roast beef, pigs in blankets ,sprouts ,potatoes ,roast potatoes ,carrots ,turnip ,cabbage,Yorkshire puddings ,lots of gravy ,followed by home made extra creamy rice pudding
tara73ziva How do you do beef pigs in blankets?
Can't say I've heard of them before
I will decide Christmas morning. It depends what I find on my Christmas Eve turkey hunt. I will definitely have Yorkshire pudding anything else is optional.
I’m doing starters of smoked salmon and Parma ham or veg broth soup dinner is roast Turkey mash roast potatoes roast carrots and parsnips sprouts and stuffing and dessert will be pavlova with mixed berries or banoffee pie with fresh cream
TheChimp Basic roast chicken followed by Christmas pud. Bit of a pain thread jumping, may have to jump social platforms @difficultlily (I put spaces in )
We don’t bother with starters as they enjoy tucking into their Christmas chocolates before lunch. Main is just the same traditional roast but with lumpy gravy, haha. Truffle for pudding.
Prawn cocktail starter. Roast turkey and beef all the trimmings then Xmas pud or roulade cheese n biscuits coffee. Then a nap
Well I was going out for Christmas lunch for the first time in about 10 years. Just heard the hostess has been pinged, so my answer is, I have no idea what I am having. I thought I’d finished shopping!
Grannyclock That's a shame.
I've never been out for Christmas dinner even though I kind of like the th9ught.
Christmas eve evening- A cheese board, pates, crisps, dips & other picky bits. Plus copious amounts of red wine, gin & rum.

That's the plan anyhoo if we are all well enough. My son currently has suspected covid, his workplace has been shut down today due to a outbreak & he & I are ill today. We are currently awaiting PCR test results from this morning. Not expecting good news tbh.
Glitterandgold Oh dear. Well I hope all the tests come back negative.
If you still have the get-together, it sounds like you're going to be very busy
Good luck.
Turkey, Gammon, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, stuffing, cranberry sauce, bread sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy.
Then profitteroles and Lemon meringue pie for dessert.
Turkey, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, peas, cabbage, carrots and then trifle for dessert. We all like different things so try to have a good variety of bits and pieces so everyone has a good meal with stuff they like.
I'm a pescatarian so this will be my menu..
Breakfast - Prosecco
Lunch- smoked salmon on crackers with cream cheese and chives
Dinner - Brie and cranberry Pastries, Stuffing, Cabbage, Brussels, carrots, mash, roast potatoes & gravy.
Dessert - Jam roly poly & custard

We always have bucks fuzz with crossiants for breakfast, then we graze throughout the day, cheese and biscuits, pastrami nice bread etc. We used to have the full Christmas dinner, but it's just too much work. We normally go out on Boxing Day for a meal.
