Why Do They Make Most Sofas so Low? over 50s Will Understand!

Other

As you get older (and it comes to all of us) it can become more difficult to get up out of the sofa. Not so bad in a chair with good arm rests, then you can push yourself up.

Ideally your knees need to be at 90° or more to the base of your spine but if your bottom is lower than your knees it can be a right pain in the backside trying to get up.😂

I often need to rock myself back and forth to get the momentum.

Come on sofa manufacturers, olduns are not in the minority and youngsters would also benefit from not slouching leading to back problems.

You can get things put at the bottom of the sofa which will raise it up to a more accessible height i think

jms19 I have a friend who I worked with before retirement who does carpentry. He was going to get me 4 spare bits of wood to size to screw into the bottom corners but I think he forgot.

I am ok as the sofa I use is just right but other one is quite low. If I sit there when I have family round they have to help me up lol.

Absolutely stupid,I am not tall but seats everywhere seem very low to me..why can't you at least have a choice when you are buying?

Sarahvwomble absolutely. When you try in the show room you sink in and it feels heavenly but after several hours in front of tv back ache begins.

Lynibis don't actually have a sofa along with any comfortable chairs! Really need one now....find seats on buses and particularly in medical places not great and too low
