The Best Valentine’s Day Meal Deals for 2018
- All major supermarkets have their meal deals out, how to they compare?
- Average person spends £90 on a night out- save by having a night in
Britain’s supermarkets have launched a huge spread of meal deals for a romantic night in on Valentine’s Day.
You can pick up a bargain for as little as £6 from Co-Op, or spend up to £20 for one from M&S, Tesco, or Waitrose.
Here’s what’s on offer:
Asda- £15
Asda is offering a three course meal for two with a bottle of wine for just £15.
Bargain hunters can choose between a continental meat platter, cheesy Cornish camembert, cherry tomato and mozzarella tartlets, or runny scotch eggs as a starter.
For a mains, the options are a rump steak, pasta primavera, pork and chorizo stew, or chicken and asparagus.
Sides include chunky chips and garlic stuffed mushrooms, and puddings are a New York cheesecake or a lemon and blueberry posset, as some of the options.
The meal deal runs in stores and online form 8th February, and lasts until the 15th February.
Co-op- £6
Co-op has the cheapest meal deal this year, but booze isn’t included in the offering.
Its’ bargain bundle includes a main for two, and two side dishes, or one side and a dessert.
You can choose between a steak, lasagne, or a vegetarian mushroom wellington for the main.
Side dishes include chips, mash, and asparagus, and you can pick from chocolate pudding,
champagne tort, or a punnet of strawberries for dessert.
Co-op’s deal runs for longer than Asda, it starts on 31st January and runs until 20th February.
Tesco- £20
Tesco is offering a two course meal, a side, plus either a bottle of cava or a box of chocolates for £20, and it’s all from the Tesco Finest range.
Unlike most supermarkets, Tesco is letting couples choose two different main courses, rather than picking out one that serves two.
This means you can get a different main to your partner.
Mains include lobster mac and cheese, lamb shank, sirloin steak, or a maple roasted butternut squash and goats cheese tart.
Couples can choose two out of the three available sides, which are a green vegetable selection, triple cooked chips, or petit pois and chantenay carrots.
For pudding, you can indulge in a raspberry and prosecco heart torte, or chocolate and salted caramel roses.
Marks and Spencer- £20
Marks and Spencer has a great offer for Valentine’s Day, you can get three courses, two sides, a bottle of wine or fizz, and a box of chocolates for just £20.
For starters, Marks and Spencer has a huge eleven options, including scallops, Thai fish cakes, and breaded camembert.
Mains include a selection of steaks, goat’s cheese lattice en croute, and lamb shanks, as well as twelve other options.
Couples can pick two out of the fourteen options for starters, which include truffled cauliflower cheese, triple cooked chips, and potato rosti.
A selection of drinks including wine, prosecco, and soft drinks are in the deal, but options will vary depending on the store.
Marks and Spencer are offering ten puddings, such as raspberry and prosecco spheres, Dutch apple tarts, and creme brulee.
The offer runs until Valentine’s Day.
Morrison’s- £15
Morrison’s is offering couples a three course meal, including one side, and a bottle of prosecco worth £10, for just £15.
For starters, diners can chose between the four options, including garlic stuffed mushrooms, champagne and smoked salmon risotto, and scallops.
Diners have seven choices for a main, such as sirloin steak, vegetable wellington, and lamb shanks.
Sides include twice cooked chips and green vegetables, and for pudding you can get a selection of cheese and chocolate and orange tarts among other options.
If prosecco isn’t your thing, other drinks in the offer include beer and soft drinks.
The deal is available across the majority of Morrisons’ stores, so you might want to check ahead.
Iceland- £10
For frozen food fans, Iceland is offering a main, pudding, and side for £10.
The meal deal doesn’t include any drinks, and with only two courses it’s not as good value as its’ competitors.
For mains you can choose from two types of steak, a mixed grill, or salmon fillets, so if you’re a vegetarian, this meal deal isn’t for you.
Sides include chunky chips, sweet potato fries, frozen vegetables, or broccoli and cauliflower cheese gratins, and for pudding there is cheesecake or lemon tartlets.
Waitrose- £20
Waitrose has a three courses, plus two sides and a bottle of wine or fizz in it’s Valentine’s offering, for just £20.
Similar to M&S, the meal deal has a huge range of options to pick from.
Nine starters include Spanish tapas selection, beetroot risotto, and poached salmon mousse.
Twelve options are on offer for mains, such as butternut squash ravioli, beef macaroni cheese, and British beef topside.
Thirteen sides include asparagus tips and cauliflower cheese, and there are ten puddings to choose from with mocha cheesecake and salted caramel and chocolate tarts on offer.
There’s also a variety of prosecco, cava, wine, and soft drinks to pick to finish off the meal deal.
