Which is the Most Complained About Broadband Provider?
- TalkTalk took the top spot
- Vodafone and BT got most complaints for mobile network
- Main complaints about broadband speed
TalkTalk has been named and shamed as the most complained about home broadband and landline provider, according to figures from Ofcom.
It got 31 complaints per 100,000 customers- well above the average of 18- followed by BT and Plusnet, both on 27.
TalkTalk also got 23 complaints per 100,000 customers for its landline service, also above the average of 13.
Faults and sluggish broadband speed with TalkTalk’s broadband and landline services led its customers to send it to the top of the complaints tables.
A spokesperson from TalkTalk said, “We always strive to provide the best possible experience and are disappointed by these results.
“Ofcom’s historical data reflects a short period last year which coincided with the closure of our contact centre in India.”
BT and Vodafone also suffered in Ofcom’s complaints research, as they few in the most complaints for mobile services.
BT is also the most complained about pay TV provider, according to the latest data.
A BT spokesperson said, “We’re really disappointed that complaints have increased this quarter.
“We know we can do better, which is why we’re investing heavily to improve our customer service.”
Ofcom releases the figures to help advise people on which companies are the most reliable, to to keep customers better informed to make the best choice for them.
Despite the complaints, BT has cut almost one million of its customers bills this year, which has been a popular decision, especially when most other telecoms companies have put their bills up.
Having worked as an engineer for all of them Talktalk has the worst customer service because its entirely based in India and Pakistan and the call centre staff are severely undertrained and dishonest - Virgin is next on the bad last although they have a good UK call centre and their South African call centre is very good too. Plusnet are the best for customer service as its entirely UK based.
The problem as an engineer sees it is that most of the problems are caused either by customers who expect too much or are technically clueless or that the greenbox in the street is severely over subscribed or that the infrastructure just inst there for the speeds you want! Technically most of the isp's are actually pretty good at actually providing the services but not every customer understands contention on a broadband nextwork or the difference between upstream and downstream ratios!
