Figures published this week showed that UK house prices are rising, so why not get a private island instead?

This Scottish private island is for sale for £250,000, which is below the UK average of £301,477.

It’s also less than half the price of a flat in London, which would set you back £538,000 on average.

The island is a huge 63.75 acres, and is located in the scenic and sheltered Vaila Sound, on the west side of Shetland.

The Shetland Isles are the most northerly group of the British Isles, and are actually closer to Norway than Scotland.

The island has beautiful scenery and an abundance of wildlife, perfect for those who like some peace and quiet.

It currently has no buildings on it, but has planning permission for several buildings, including a pier, a traditional watermill, and three cottages.
