More than 7,000,000 Told to 'Get a Grab Bag Ready' - UK Braces for Floods
Ask a Question
Where I live, we had about 5 minutes rain on Monday, so I was really surprised to see this headline "More than 7,000,000 told to 'get a grab bag ready' as UK braces for major floods"
metro.co.uk/2022/08/16/uk-weather-people-told-pack-your-things-now-amid-flood-alerts-17190003/
But it is the Metro, so it maybe just clickbait.
Did you have heavy rain, where you live ?
No - about 20 drops although we were expecting much more.
I am hopeful for overnight though as it has become considerably cooler?!
In the main I think it is scaremongering.
It is the Metro A joke to most of us but a work of reference for a certain member Not a lot here yet but moved all my house plants outside so they can get a breath of fresh air and a good dunking with rainwater .
I think I must have been tempting fate, by posting this, as I am originally from Port Talbot, although I now live in Yorkshire, just seen this headline "Cars caught in flooded road in Port Talbot."

Luckily enough none of my family have been adversely affected by this.
telmel I like the Metro & BBC News as it only takes a few minutes to read, which suits me fine.
beccatavender that's not too far from me and a recent drain survey has said our infrastructure is in a terrible mess...looks like NPT council have a lot of work to do to fix this mess or it'll keep happening
I use metro as the link stays active and is free , unlike other newspaper links where you either have to subscribe or join and are blocked from reading until you do
Others i use are the mirror, and reluctantly the sun , but they are all generic and tend to have the same article practically word for word
I never use the links to a yahoo news story as they disappear after an hour or so
telmel Nothing wrong with the Metro
I like it because it's bite size and if you interested in the story you can look further.
Opposite where we live there’s a close down steep a hill. I expect my husband would set a hose to siphon the excess water that way.
We're under Neath Port Talbot Council too and have just discovered that a recent development has caused huge damage to our drains and soakaways. Some home have flodded already and ours has nearly a couple of times....eek
k4ren2006 I hope you are Okay and escape the worst of any flooding, it's a horrible thing to happen as you are at the mercies of Mother Nature.
We've had some rain but apart from heat no extreme weather in my little corner of the country
We've had loads of rain in Devon, but fortunately no flooding locally to us. I'm sure my garden is grateful.
