Aldi Enhances Living Conditions for Fresh Chickens
- Aldi boosts animal welfare by changing chicken stocking practices
- New packaging reveals improved conditions for fresh chickens
- Aldi chickens now have more space compared to industry standards
In a continued focus on animal welfare, Aldi is rolling out changes to its fresh chicken range. Starting next week, new packaging will inform customers about improved living conditions. The retailer has increased the space allocated to chickens by 20%, exceeding the industry norm. Aldi’s fresh chickens are sourced from UK farms, reflecting the supermarket's commitment to high-quality standards. According to Julie Ashfield, Aldi UK's Managing Director of Buying, the company has worked closely with suppliers to reduce stocking density and enhance welfare conditions for chickens. This initiative comes after Aldi's recent achievement of selling only cage-free eggs ahead of its target.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented: "Improving animal welfare is a significant step for supermarkets, and it's encouraging to see Aldi leading the charge."
More information on 'red tractor' standards here, please note it can be horrific reading. This is just another PR release by Aldi that for some reason Latestdeals keeps using in their news reports. Red Tractor standards are not great but this doesn't just effect Aldi but for some reason we are reading a manipulative Aldi PR posting here. Please do not just believe the Aldi PR that gets regularly posted to the Latestdeals site.
