Anyone Else Fed Up with Constant Bad News?
Ask a Question
Is anyone like me fed up.turning the TV and radio on and mainly hearing bad news!
Sometime you just want a up lifting story!
Leannexxx I feel the same we all have a lot to put up.with at the moment some more than others with the constant bad news!
Yep, I stopped completely it's all non stop brainwashing to keep us all in a constant fear mode. Everyone news outlet literally have the same script and I'm bored with it.
There’s so much bad news but hopefully it makes you appreciate what you’ve got and not take life for granted.
yeh i made a choice not to watch the news a few years ago as well as not scrolling on social media both things are bad for your mental health.
The new has been reporting bad things for years, it's nothing new. Sometimes there are more bad things happening than at other times so it feels as if we are being bombarded with bad news. I still watch the news every night as I want to know what's going on. Everyone is going through their own issues, sometimes seeing bad things can make these seems worse, sometimes it reminds people that they aren't alone. Hopefully it reminds us all not to take things for granted and be thankful for what we have, even if it seems bad now, it won't always be.
I go through phases where it can be to much, so I stop for a short while but I like to know what's going on so it never lasts to long.
I disagree with you. Last night I enjoyed watching the news that Constance Marten and Mark Gordon were both recognised by a member of the public and arrested by the police shortly. I have been following this story since day one (5 January). Their behaviour is right out of a crime novel.
I'm afraid good news and bad news is life . More to do with the recipient of news than the actual news itself ?
Sadly we devour the "nastier " news with glee ? Perhaps we should look further and recognise the better aspects ? eg Turkish earthquakes , I was more interested in the massive humanitarian multinational rescue teams than the ever mounting ghoulish death counts .
Did an Emmerdale or Eastenders episode ever get record ratings for the planting of an allotment ? Maybe a murder or air crash would do the trick ?
We need the news , we also need to have the intelligence to filter out the good from the bad ? We can't just switch off - we really need to process news to understand our world -which sadly is not all roses .
I haven’t watched it since the beginning of covid there is a media biased to report bad news or just be biased in general now take bbc coverage of the EU vote no equal reporting
The media have to much power they brought on the run on northern rock and will push our country into recession
People unfortunately not all obviously but a lot just believe what they are told, which is sad
Gromit22 The media report the news , in various biased forms . If we are intelligent we can pick the bones out of the reporting ?
If you use your intelligence you could say the reporting on Northern Rock was correct - OK too late for many . The reporting on , say , tomato , cucumber etc shortages is also correct , but we aren't going to die from a lack of tomatoes ? (doesn't stop folks panic buying an item that will last a week at the most and cannot be frozen ) .
Perhaps if the peasants knew the Irish Potato famine was coming in the 1840s they would have been better able to cope ?
Knowledge and news informs us , but we need to know how to process it - Education is vital ?
Yes it's so depressing and people's comments under social media news coverage is also the same. The problem is if you don't watch/read the news you feel like you're missing out on what's going on in the world but if you do watch it, it's draining.
I'm on social.media but will not engage with anything negative or mean at all.
I try to be positive, helpful and supportive if I can
