Bad Week Glad It's Nearly Over, How is Yours Going?
Other
Well, as most of you know teachers strike yesterday so 5 noisy kids next door. Nearly half my work got cancelled this week (no work, no pay), next door having new roof so scaffolding, banging and drilling all day and for next 2/3 weeks. Broadband quit and two guys climbing over my flat kitchen roof so more noise. Final straw opened a letter to find an £85 parking fine as I forgot to put in my car reg when I ate at Toby carvery couple of weeks ago, phoned Toby and they have proof of booking so may be ok.
Final, final straw, after mid morning appointment hung around until a job at 2.50pm, only to have that cancel too, so wasted day.
Now, before anyone puts me in my place I do appreciate there are far worse things going on for folk everywhere so this isn't a real rant, just a bit exasperated. Hope your week has been better. Share if you want to get something off your chest.
I’m not going to list all the things I’m disappointed with in my life or I’ll end up crying. I try my best to focus on the positives, unfortunately I can’t always
Pjran I understand that my dear. Do you have a partner, good friend or sister who you can talk to? My oldest son is my life saver, he always cheers me up and makes me feel so loved.
I don't know if your problems are solvable or ongoing but I hope you find a measure of peace. Mine are trivial in comparison so I understand how lucky I am in reality.
I've had a mixed week, for months now I've not been able to send or receive call or texts on my mobile, almost definitely caused by scaffolding next door.
This morning though things were great found out I'd been refunded £25.40 wrongly taken from my energy account, then checked premium bonds for February and found I'd won 3 x £100 prizes. £100 pound wins are rare enough but three in the same draw is almost unheard of
That was £325.24 before I even got out of bed... at that rate who knows I could be a millionaire in a years time.
I hope you get that £85 fine sorted out Lyn. Incidentally unless you get your broadband by phoneline or cable your broadband problem could be caused by the scaffolding too. have you checked your landline phone those clambering over your roof might have disturbed a telephone cable?
davidstockport ha ha well done, that's a good day's pay, £300 in profit.
The broadband has been playing up for a while, kept dropping signal, scaffolding went up today so hope it doesn't cause a problem. Don't have a landline. Actually they said it will be lots quicker now and it seems to be.
Sorry you've had a bit of a bad week. Sometimes it is just one thing after another. I know it's not always possible, but try to focus on the positives.
MrsCraig ah don't worry, none of those things were a problem individually, they just came all at once.
Nipped down to Toby yesterday and the very nice manager has dealt with the parking fine. The only problem now is the building noise, but hey ho, it has to be done, just hope no roof tiles from next door smash on to my conservatory roof!
Aww bless you .. sometime the these minor things do add up especially if they occur one after the other. Chin up, I usually find better things come after a bad week.
Nadiaparveen yes you are right, maybe I will win a competition after a long dry spell
Back hurting and had 2 hospital appointments this week . Have had a good week for freebies and won a competition for a giftcard for sports direct.
stuartsmith544 back pain is so debilitating and can have such an effect on everyday life. I remember as a child constantly being told to sit up straight but today's lifestyle is very different. I purposely bought a sofa with higher seating so my body is at right angles to my thighs, so easy to get up and down. But most sofas feel so low and backside is lower than knees so hard to get up. It encourages slouching which is so bad for back. Hope all goes well. Congrats on win, haven't had a sniff for at least 6 months.
Lynibis I am always of the attitude I have to be in it to win it .Hope u do have a great weekend though mate .
stuartsmith544 ah thanks, you too. Looking forward to granddaughter coming for roast dinner with her hubby, it's the only time I do one as can't be bothered just for me lol.
Several items I purchased during the sale (since 28 December 2022) has reduced further. I estimated a £15 loss since Friday 3 February.
jam45 that's a bummer! Hate buying something and finding it cheaper later on. My grandson bought me a lovely Tom Baker gift set for Christmas but I have seen it at half price recently. I have bought two for special birthdays this year but I have a feeling it will go down more when Boots have their famous 70% off sale.
Well I hope your weekend has been better than your week and fingers crossed you get the parking fine revoked. I've had a busy week buy so far, looking after grandchildren but having a nice chilling weekend and off out for a country walk tomorrow so that will blow the cobwebs away ready for the week ahead.
HEDGEHOGS well, I was working Saturday and today my granddaughter and her husband are coming for dinner as it is her birthday tomorrow so am doing them a roast. It will be a busy but lovely day.
Hope you enjoy your walk today and the weather is kind to you, I hear we will have another cold snap mid week.
