You Buy a Bag of Chips from the Chippy and the First Thing You Do is...
Ask a Question
I empty out the salt shaker, coating the chips as evenly as possibly as I toss the chips around to get the salt to the bottom...and then in goes the vinegar (usually malt, but sometimes onion, and sometimes both!) - I’m sure it’s a poisonous mixture, but I do love it so!
Lol I’ve never done it like that before, but I guess it works well also Yummy, makes me want a bag right now to try it out
bit if salt bit of vinegar, bit more salt and bit more vinegar and then a little bit more of each 3 times each is the key
Loads of salt, shake off the paper on to a plate, add the jumbo battered sausage and fish, dunk a few chips in the curry sauce and demolish those. Sit and eat the rest dunking regularly
Ah yes, they are indeed welcome additions to keep the chips company. Making me hungry now...
I only put in a light coating of salt as I shake the bag around to get it spread evenly, or as evenly as I can. I'm not a huge fan of vinegar, so I might just put in a tiny amount. If there is ketchup, I will put a bit of that in there, but only if it is available for free
It's such a rare thing for me to have these days - trying desperately to lose a few pounds - but the first thing I do is open the paper/dish and inhale. There is nothing quite like it! Vinegar first then salt them so it sticks. I'm drooling just thinking about that smell......
I like to put vinegar on before the salt. Then squeeze on some mayonnaise or tomato ketchup
yup Im a salt vinegar shake and repeat salt girl seems to hit everything and you get that lovely ocean and vinegar cloud of seaside smell as it all waffs off into my drooling mouth
Working from memory... it's over 20 years since I last bought chips from a chip shop then the first thing I did was COMPLAIN (not strongly) about the previous ones I'd bought being too cold. When asked "haven't you got a microwave" and replying "yes but I don't carry it with me so I can have warm chips on my way home" (fish and chips always taste better outdoors walking home).
Did I mention it's over twenty years since I bought chips from a chip shop?
Incidentally the last meal I had was fish, chips and mushy peas (tartare sauce too) home cooked including gas for cooking cost less than a pound. Delicious ... and hot too.
Lol 20 years eh? I’m sure you wouldn’t pay the prices they charge for chips now...and that chip shop is probably not still in business?
hspexy Apparently the price of a portion of chips now is more than I pay for a bag of oven chips (90p) which will last for weeks (at least a dozen portions I reckon)- and I can have them as hot as I want
davidstockport lol no wonder you don’t visit the chippy anymore The prices have gone very high in my area, especially after the yuppy chip shops have popped up. The food is good, but not the kind of meal you could afford to eat regularly
Vinegar then salt and a few scraps for heart depleting crunch. I have not had a chippy for months. Gonna have to happen now
i love a lot off slat and vinegar on my chips only when i have chips on there own though i do not like it with andthing else
After reading and commenting on this topic I just had to go to the chippy! I't going to mean a lot more exercise but Oh my! it was worth it.
